Original post:
I believe Crazyhorse found that when he uses GT2 on his PS2 with the pressure sensitive buttons, his braking distances were longer, thereby making his times slower.

...and:

...significantly shorter braking distances using GT2/PS2/Analogue-ON/button brakes, compared to digital brakes.

Okaaaay...using digital buttons bor throttle/brake here since I can't friggin' get used to the second joystick for throttle/brake on the Dual Shock controller. These posts sound like there is actually a controller where you can use buttons BUT the more you press the harder the brake is applied??? True/false?? Crazy?

Supposedly ALL the buttons on the DualShock2 for the PS2 are pressure sensitive. Supposedly. Can't ask Gilles, since he uses his old DualShock with his PS2. Silly man.

On a semi-related note, if you haven't made the switch to the 'sticks' yet(like me), some twitchy cars are smoothed out by setting the buttons for use with analog. Why? I don't really know. Doesn't work with all cars, though.

The truth is Dango, I haven't done any rigorous testing on the issue, just made some observations.

Gilles and I recently teamed-up and kicked some GT.com buttski in a Daishan (sp?) Silvia. I found that my braking distances were SHORTER, and the manoeuvre more controlled, using the DualShock2-accel./brake buttons with analogue switched ON. I've not seen this effect with any other car because since I PERCEIVED this to be true, I haven't gone back to digital (I've also just made the switch to left-stick too).

This apparent effect was a surprise because I thought that while the DualShock2 has analogue-capable buttons, GT2 itself didn't support such a feature - the way I understood it, the 250-odd (?) degrees of analogue-sensitivity was to be a feature supported by GT3!!

Basically though, I could be wrong on both counts... my opinion of the effect on the Silvia @ Seattle is subjective, and my in-depth knowledge of features supported by PS2, DualShock2, GT2 and GT3 is patchy at best.

What ya need here is a DD or a Star ta put ya straight - me... I'm juza maze dug frumm the sticks

Crazy,
I use the UltraRacer (the one shaped like a hand-neld R/C controller) and have always appreciated analog (porportional) control for gas & brake (& even reverse). Original GT, as well as GT2 have always supported this on a PSX.

How to get the best times in GT2
1) Take controller
2) Hit controller with large axe
3) repeat as needed
4) Get Negcon controller
5) Enjoy

Just my way of saying that Negcon controllers are the bees knees, although they get a bit thrashed after about a year of hard core playing.

Dunno CH; the game just uses whatever controller input you give it. A digital button is either 0 or 255, it's not an entirely different system, so maybe the analog buttons will work. I couldn't tell you for sure until someone brings out a memory debugger with a PC link for the PS2.

Hmmmm - All this 'UltraRacer'-, 'Negcon'-talk... gotta stay focused on DS2 as I'm in the process of switching to MT.

Don't know much about the Ultra (...sounds neat Henry), but I hear some v. quick boyz use the Negcon - haven't seen you do yer 'fine-thang' kiwi... maybe you're one of 'em

DD... then I reckon we can tell Dango there IS (should be anyway) a benefit to gas/brake button with analogue ON.

Thanks fellas...

Guess you need all the help you can get, eh Crazy?

Buttons? WHat are these strange buttons you speak of? Perhaps something from yesteryear? All I know is this pair of little sticks...

There's a lot of dog poop in my front yard right now. Hopefully that doesn't ruin your little raindance my friend.
