Welcome to the numbers I XLR8!,

Getting to 60% complete on normal tires is impressive. If you are running on simulation tires then you bought and installed them.

The option to by tires (or tyres) is not won, you buy them at the “TUNE SHOP” in the upper right hand corner of the main screen on simulation mode. In the “TUNE SHOP” the second selection up from the bottom and fifth down from the top is “Tires”. In “Tires” there are four selections, Simulation Tires, Sport Tires, Racing Tires, and Dirt Racing Tires. The selection “Racing Tires” has a sub menu with seven different types of racing slicks listed. They are ordered from the top down, hardest to softest.

All tires, except dirt, follow the same procedure for purchase. After having selected the type of tires you want to purchase, and moved to highlight the sub selection in the case of Racing Tires, you press the “X” button. You will then be given a YES/NO prompt asking if you truly intend to purchase these tires, if you answer YES then you will be given a YES/NO prompt asking weather you want to install them now. You do not need to install them now, you can always install them later in the “SETTINGS” menu before an event.

If your car will accept dirt tires, when you go to buy them you will not receive a prompt about installation. Dirt tires are put on automatically when you enter a rally event and taken off when you leave, returning you to what you had on before.

It is much the same for all race-bodied cars except formula cars. Formula cars all come with T5 Racing Medium tires and that is all they can use. All race-bodied cars that you buy or win come with T5 tires, you can buy them all the others including dirt tires if they can use dirt tires. If you acquire a rally car it comes with both T5 and Dirt tires.

If your game is not operating the same then I think that there is a problem with either your game disk or your save.

P.S. I offer this excruciating description not because I think you need all that. But rather so it will turn up on searches, hence the clumsy inclusion of the alternate spelling.

Thanks man, I now know there is a problem.Me or my partner chris can buy racing tires. The option is ther on the menu but it can not be selected. No matter what car I take to buy tire it says not available.I thought I had to unlock the option or something.I have run on sim tires and there is another tire right next to them I can buy and use,Then there is racing tires, and then dirt tires.I have bought and used all but the racing tires.I read where you guys were using all the compound tires and must say I am alot jealous.Me and chris both have this problem, two diffrent games and two diffrent consoles.I want racing tires what should I do?Has anyone else experienced this?
Sorry for the long post just wanted to explain my situation. Please someone help me out.NumberOne thanks for the help It's been a while since I have been on this board,so long I had to re-register with a new name. It's good to be back and hopefully racing with all yall agin soon.As soon as I get some tires....
