I've seen a couple of different mentions of how to run races, save them right before the end of the series (when you have one race left, or something like that) then, if you don't get the car your shooting for, you can run back in.

Well.....how is this done? I've tried a couple of times, but I guess I'm just a dumb chiken..can't figure out how to get this done.

I'm tired or running these series races and getting cars that I either have, or REALLY don't want.. like an Austin Mini Cooper... I've won that thing about 8 times now.. damn.. I hate that little car... well, NOW I do.. lol

It only works with series races. After you win or complete the next to last race you can save your current game. I believe you must do this before it shows the replay of the race you just completed. Don't confuse the replay save from the series save as they are both an option.the series save is further down the right of the screen. Just last week I was trying to get the Zonda race car in the Pro/Japan/All-Stars and had to reload 20 times before I got the car. Also,
if your ahead by 11 or more points, You can save after race 9 and skip race ten to get the car you want. I've won alot of cars this
way. Hope this helps. I know how frustrating it is to work hard on those 15 and 20 lap races and not get the car you wanted.

Erm, I'm going to go back to first principles so forgive me if I'm patronising you...

In series championships you can save the game after each race (a handy option for those of us who don't have 12 spare hours to run the F1 championship) and also you can quit out at any point where your lead is such that none of the AI cars can pass your point total with the number of races left (ie and 11 or more point lead with one race to go, 21 or more with 2 races etc) and then win the championship without having to do the final races.

If you save the game at the point where you can't lose the championship, go into the next race, start it without qualifying and then quit as soon as it begins the computer will spit you out of the championship but still give you the overall win and a random (and it really is random) selection of the prize cars on offer. If you know which car you want and you don't get it you can go to the main menu screen and select 'Load Game' which will take you back to the point in the championship where you saved. At this point you can then go into the next race and repeat the above process ad infinitum until you get the yellow Imprezza LM/F1 car/GT-One Road car you were after.

*phew!*

Clear? Any questions?

sorry, im completely lost here. Can you save in the middle of a championship and come back to it? If so how?

This is what I tried after I heard of this and it didnt work. I saved on race 8 becuase I had to go somewhere and couldnt finish. Then I came back, loaded my game and clicked "series race." it started me over on race 1. what did I do wrong?

Thanks

You have to load your game from the Main menu
where you select Arcade,simulation,replay,
load game etc. When select load game, it will
load you up in the series you last saved.
If you save a series and then play in simulation somewhere else and save in simulation mode, your screwed.I have to save
my series games all the time because my son also wants to use the PS2.Hope this helps.

SC, JR, did those explanations help you?

Here's exactly the same explanation again - but maybe another form of words will 'turn on the lightbulb' for you...

During a series race event, there are two screens which show yellow icons for things like Start, Save, Settings, Next etc.

One is the Start screen, which comes up before each round, which you'll mainly use for Settings, Qualify and Start. This is not the one we're interested in here.

The other is the 'Next' screen, which comes up immediately after you complete a round of the series. This screen contains two different 'Save' icons. One has a movie camera symbol, and is used for saving a reply of the race you just ran. The other shows a memory card symbol (I think) and is used for saving your game during the series race, ie. what we're talking about here.

When you click this Save Game icon, you get the usual screen for selecting memory card slot 1 or 2 etc.

The difference between this save and a normal save is that if you start up with - or at any time reload from - this save, you will enter the game right at the save point, in the middle of the series race. This is the basis of the 'Save & Reload' approach, which is for one thing the only relaistic way of retaining 100% win ratio, and for another thing the only practical way to collect specific (or all) prize cars.

If you are keeping 100% win ratio, and are concerned that you may get yourself into a series which you can not eventually win at 100%, do not worry - you can always exit the series between races without harming your 100% record, as long as you never saved any time after a defeat.

To reload from a saved game, you need to Exit the series & 'triangle' your way back to the red screen at the start of the game, and scroll down to 'Load Game', fourth down on the intro menu below Arcade and GT Mode etc.

Hope that says it all - this is pretty important to understand if you're going to get the most out of GT3!

Happy racing,
p2.

See above comments about not wanting to sound patronising...

It's like Mich said earlier, after each race in a championship you get to watch the replay. After you quit out of that (or watch it all the way through, whatever) you get to a menu screen where you have the options of re-watching the replay, saving the replay, saving your progress, going on to the next race or quitting the championship. If you save your progress and then don't save the game again anywhere else, next time you load up GT3 it will automatically put you back at the point where you saved, and you can continue the series from there.

Is that clear enough or have I totally misunderstood the question?

GT3Mich,

>> I have to save my series games all the time because my son also wants to use the PS2.

The PS2 just came down in price in the UK - 170 pounds ( ~ $260 ); I didn't look at US prices, but I know the solution for you!

2 PS2's, 1 PSX, 1 N64, 5 Gameboys, 1 Atari ST, 1 Sega Master, 1 PC - and only two sons competing for screen time!

PS.
"SOL"

We play on a 51' Sony wide screen so if i had 2 sony's we could do PIP. Only one of us
would have to do with out sound. Mmmmmm, my
son would have to go w/o sound. Also, think of
the possibilities of 2 PS2's. I-Link racing!
PS2 in the US cost 199.96 Dollars

Now go and win those cars you really want.
BTW if you had 2 memory cards you could win 2
cars from one series race!
