many people wonder y GT4 hasnt got any Ferraris and Lambo in it, but i m pretty sure the story goes like this...

The rep of PD turned up to Modena, hoping to get the Lambo and Ferraris badges into the game. Went to their board room and told all the big italian bosses that PD is gonna hv a supercar festival in the game which is gonna feature courses like New York City and Infieion, letting the supercars to show their awesome speed and handling capacity.

The Italians thought, 'Bravo! wt a great idea!' but when they were just about to pen the contract. The PD guys said, 'O, one more thing, we are gonna just let the players use tyres that provide NO breaking capacity wt so ever, so they can run into walls in certain death style!!'

well... everybody knows wt happen at the end and hopefully they will get it rite in GT5

Actually, I read a snippet of a recent interview with Yaz, and he as much as said that Lambo, Ferrari and Porsche wanted too much money for licensing...

Hm.

Ferrari is still under a contract with some game by Sega (Dreamcast, anyone?), so their cars are extreamly rare on other games. You'll see pathetic made-up versions of the cars on other games, though.

Porsche is probably RUF (some of decent cars). Don't know about Lamborghini. But that is probably wrong about Ferrari, but above all. They may all want more money to overtake the contracts they already under (If you googlize it, you may find some games named and purposely based on Lamborghini). I'm very unsure about RUF and Porsche about their names.

As far as I know, RUF is a "Porsche enhancement/improvement" company. IOW, improvements based on Porsche automobiles.

Porsche and RUF are 2 totally different companies. Yes, Ruf does tune Porsches if customers provide them with one...but Ruf main busineess is to purchase the 'shell' of Porsche but fit their own stuff inside, engines, brakes, suspension etc.

I first posted this post because i totally dislike the idea that we hv to use sport tyres for the super car festival which the super car cannot perforem in the way they should.... i know supercars run on sports tyres on road but because the laws dont allow slick and u will be mostly likely to be driving at 30 mph and u dont drive into tight corners at 200mph

As Mine's are to Nissan Skylines and Mitsubuishi Lancers. Yes, my point exactly.

No Secludus, but a better example would be Saleen.

Saleen generally uses Ford vehicles and parts but makes the vehicles as their own. Example: you could buy a Skyline and take it to Mine's (theoretically) and have them replace parts with racing versions to have a fairly trick car; but Saleen purchases a modified version of the vehilce (ie: Mustang, Explorer) and then recreates it as their own (S281, SR Widebody, ect.).

The same goes with Ruf (pronounced "Roof," and not R-U-F). The shell of the vehicle is very similar to a Porsche, but actually shares less in common then you would think.

Another example would be Shelby, but from back in the day.

You beat me too it! My response exactly SpecsGTP. You might be able to include Roush in that group as well because they make their own variations of the Mustang. Bodies are similar but whats under the skin, doesn't have many similarites to the origional version.

Absolutely incorrect.

Ruf, which started out as a "tuner" for Porsche cars, now buys Porsche shells and mount their own suspensions, engines and drive trains. As so, they are now considered by the German government to be a Manufacturer.

In fact, just last night there was a show on Discovery (or maybe the History Channel?) about the Autobahn, which contained a major segment about Ruf, and covered this issue quite succinctly.

BTW, according to Mr. Ruf, it's pronounced rüf, something between roof and rough.

Add Callaway in there. The Callaway's are high-performance ground-up builds of Chevy Corvettes, originally intended for homologation into the GT class to run at Le Mans. The rules are a bit different now, and the more recent C5 and now C6 Corvettes are running as race-tuned versions of the stock car.

That is sort of what I tought, but I did not know RUF would go as far as buying only the shells and producing a car of their own. I actually tought they would get a Porsche and just upgrade it (yes, probably like Mine's to skylines and lancers).

Thank you for all the knowledge shared... [whispering to myself: "I love this forum"]

Well that's not a very nice thing to say, even if it is true.

The Numbers Forum is generally for mature racers and beginners alike, in a friendly (sometimes competitive) setting for the exchange of GT knowledge, information, or just shooting the breeze.

I'm sorry if you feel you got the brunt of some of the "corrections" a few of us may have posted, and that your stay here has not been enjoyable.

I don't know. Its been a long time between versions. It only seems to be a handfull of new posters that don't seem to know who is who in regards to this board or other boards for that matter. NoQuarter is a respected GT racer at many GT boards and doesn't deserve to be told to shut up from a new member.

Thanks Jim, but it "ain't no thing"

Shame on me for goading Secludus, but he proved my point, ergo the "hook, line & sinker" pic.

Of all the GT Forums I frequent (and I frequent them all), this one is, by far, one of the friendlier forums (along with the HGT), and it just irks me when someone disses the place like Secludus did, with his "...I may desert this forum. Only if I need to come back." That kind of attitude rouses the militant mind in me, and I'm often compelled to engage in confrontational discourse, mostly for my own amusement.

Secludus...find another place for your witless banter, if anyone will have you.

Jim, Glen & the rest of the Staff here...I've made my point. I apologize to you and the good folks here for causing trouble, and I'll lay back and observe the frivolities in this thread from here out

I did some detective work for anyone who like me couldn't stand to be teased any longer.

Notes regarding English Patriot/King of England/Secludus's ban, extended to one month today

His posts in OD forum at same site

However, these links don't explain why the forum is so vital to his existence.

Please note I'm not implying that he's done anything "wrong" here at the Numbers, other than boasting that he'll leave once his ban is lifted at the other site (which isn't illegal anyway), and telling Ed to shut up. When he brought up the ban, but then wouldn't say anything else regarding it, it just piqued my curiosity.

Whenever you're ready to go, Secludus, you just let me know, mmmmK?

[edit] OK, I just read the thread with your banning due to the "What he said" comment, and I have to tell ya, I thought it was pretty darn funny. We're not that strict around here, but we do ask that you try to be respectful to other members in your posts. "Do shut up" is most definitely NOT respectful.
