How can I get rid of MyStartSearch with having to reset Firefox?

Have you tried the usual repair suspects like superantispyware, malwarebytes, spybot, etc?

Might be something here. I've had to do similar for removing this shit from Chrome.

I'm at a loss. Malwarebytes, ccleaner, and a couple of others. One did find it but refused to clean it unless I upgraded to pro.

Not entirely uncommon. Honestly, I'd just reset... because the alternative includes possibly leaving things behind that will come back to haunt you later.

Did you do a reset in IE?

One of the malware removal tools caught it once when I was starting IE, nailed the motherfucker.

By erasing some registry lines I have, inadvertently, rendered useless some, um, questionable content.
