That means no more young Spock chatting up with old Spock in future Star Trek Movies? :(

Man, this is the worst. I'm usually pretty indifferent about celebrity deaths, but this is awful. :(

Live Long and Prosper. You'll be missed but your message will still ring true.

(by the way... that's a fantastic gold and white shirt you're wearing.)

[raises a toast]

Seemed like a great character, as well as a cult actor.

Going to miss seeing him crop up on my screens.

Hopefully Big Bang Theory does a suitable memorial to Mr Nimoy too, since they often refer to him in that series :)

Feeling overly emotional about an actor's death is... illogical.

I was never a big Star Trek fan, but certainly always knew who Mr. Spock was. He also provided the original menacing voice of Galvatron in the Transformers animated movie of the 80s.

RIP.

He also voiced Sentinel Prime in one of the recent Transformers movies (Dark of the Moon?)

I knew him from "In Search Of..." before I knew him from Star Trek.

I thought that was great. Sad, but great nonetheless. My applause if you created that, op, or even if you stole it from somewhere else as I do with everything like that I post.

I was a huge Nimoy fan and as sorry to see him go as anyone. Cable TV channel MeTV had a nice tribute to him Sunday night and played episodes of him in Columbo, Twilight Zone, Perry Mason, and whatever else I missed...Mission Impossible, maybe? Gunsmoke?

And every Saturday night Star Trek comes on MeTV. This weekend changed the scheduled epsiode of This Side Of Paradise to a more popular Spock-centric episode, Amok Time. That was probably their best choice from a "most popular" standpoint. I would have preferred This Side Of Paradise as it's also a Spock episode and just as good IMO, but probably not as well-known as Amok Time.

I was impressed with all the tributes to Nimoy I saw on various news channels and online this weekend. Everyone seems to agree he was a class act, and it was refreshing to hear nothing but praise for a famous figure and without even one hint of a scandal or dark moment in his past.

For any Trek fans here who may have missed me mentioning Star Trek Continues, I'll do so again right now. The newest episode, and the fourth so far, premeires Friday, May 19, 2015 at the Phoenix Comicon. I assume the episode will be available online then as well. This is a well done continuation of the original series with the original characters, uniforms, the original Enterprise, as if the series had never ended. The guy who plays Spock is okay, but the guy who plays Kirk is just about PERFECT with regards to appearance, posture, gestures, speech patters, etc.

Here are some neat Nimoy videos I found around the web recently. I like the part in the music video when Nimoy is using the TV remote control and Shatner is on every channel!

I didn't make it. I just reposted it. Several people seem to be upset that I posted it.

The people running his funeral decided not to disclose the location to the media or anyone else who wasn't invited. As a result, the Westboro Baptist Assholes couldn't find it. Good.

Shatner missed it because he was working at a fundraiser in Florida for the Red Cross. People giving him shit about it are also assholes.

Do the Westboro Baptist Assholes have a beef with Nimoy? If so, why?

And Shatner doing charity work gets my nod of approval. He's going to lose either way on that one. If he bailed on charity work he had already committed to, people would be calling him a selfish jerk and worse.

I can't imagine any person getting upset a friend, etc. couldn't make their funeral because they were helping victims. I can't imagine a dick like that having many friends to miss their funeral in the first place.

They'll picket anything. I don't know that they had anything specifically against Nimoy. Maybe it was because he was best known for Star Trek which always tried to be pro-diversity. They even had a lesbian kiss on DS9. Various characters were androgynous.

Nimoy also worked with actual gay people like Takei and Quinto.

Thanks. That's what I figured.

And of course Star Trek had the first interracial kiss between Kirk and Uhura. Apparently many TV stations in the south refused to air the episode when it was new. That's probably a good thing - no, wait, hear me out - because it was a crappy episode!

Star Trek had so many great episodes that still hold up for me forty-some years after I became a fan, but some are so bad they're almost painful to watch. Just this weekend I was in the basement folding a mountain of laundry with nothing good on TV to watch while working. I reached for my Star Trek DVD collection and grabbed the third season episodes. Just from reading the titles, I couldn't find a single one I wanted to see, yet when I catch those same episodes on "live" TV, I become glued to the screen with child-like amazement. Silly, I know, but my wife agrees about old TV and movies - finding them on TV makes them way more interesting than watching the same thing on a DVD that we already own.

I did not know that about Quinto, not that it matters. I thought he played Spock as well as anyone could, and he certainly looked the part. I hope we get another Star Trek movie from JJ Abrams and crew...or better yet, several!

FWIW Shatner made the funeral anyway, rushed after the fundraiser.

They picket for exposure. Nothing more, nothing less.
