BREAKING - TVR plans a new sports car family, starting in 2017 http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/reborn-tvr-plans-new-sports-car-family-2017 …

After a wait of nearly 10 years, the long-promised, all-new TVR sports car is uncovered today, designed by engineering guru Gordon Murray, powered by a unique, hugely powerful Cosworth V8 engine and backed by an ambitious and well-funded ownership team.

Not keen on that sketch, but I'm all about TVR coming back.

I like the "TVR version of an R8" look. Also, yes, TVR + Cosworth = WIN

I just hope it's real, and not another supercar cashgrab.

With Gordon Murray involved, I'm optimistic.

Yeah, looks like an Audi to me! :p

Side view looks more like a typical TVR!

I bet Keith Flint and Liam Howlett have already placed a deposit.

News that TVR is to return has been met with delight by the National Union Of Hedge Menders. (http://sniffpetrol.com/2015/06/04/tvr-return-delights-hedge-menders/)

Ford 5.0 V8, tuned to ~500hp by Cosworth
Six-speed manual
~1250 kg

Will be interested to see how it turns out. I can't stretch to £90k but maybe in the future ;-)

Too bad about the 5.0 when there is a sweet, sweet flat plane V8 available. :p

I know - I have no idea why they aren't using that, whether Ford can't or won't supply it, or it'd be too expensive, or they want something different. It would seem the obvious way to go. Still, once the basic car is out there, it opens up the possibility of having the flat-plane engine in it later, whether as a halo model or aftermarket.

Nice, but pricey...

I think the allure of the big grunty V8 is probably a bigger draw in the UK than it is here. The Voodoo performance gain probably isn't worth the price increase (if Ford would even do it).

I would presume that the TVR is getting the 5.0 instead of the 5.2 Voodoo because Ford's done the work of certifying the 5.0 for EU emissions, but I'm not sure how a 500 hp 'tune' would affect that. If the 2018 5.0 is making 460 on 95 RON (91 (R+M)/2), a 500 hp 99 RON tune doesn't seem far-fetched.

Gordon Murray + Cosworth V8 = win
looks better in red (http://jalopnik.com/the-tvr-griffith-is-finally-back-with-a-500-hp-v8-and-a-1802616182)
