365hp, 343lb-ft, 3450lb for the 7-speed DCT, 3550 for the 6-speed manual. (I think those figures are backwards, especially considering the oil cooler for the DCT)

7:58 Nordschleife time (how they got that I don't know, I guess they tested it a while ago?)

Guesses put it just over $50k mark. Those are very similar numbers to the new Focus RS actually, but of course very different packages.

Meh, I've given up on understanding BMW's new philosophy. This is probably what the M3 should have grown into.

M2 is a good name.
The previous equiv model was the "1 series M coupe", because they didnt want to re-use M1
Now with the odd/even numbering it works well, this is a M version of a 2 series.
And the M3 2 door turns into a M4.

I understand what they did, but I don't understand why they did it. The new "convention" only fixes one thing - the 1-series M. It doesn't address anything that's not a car, as we still have X6M, so I don't understand why they didn't just chuck the M at the end universally so we could have a 1M and a 3M. Maybe because "M3" has great branding? Okay, except the 3-series M coupe that's been an M3 for 30 years is now the M4, so that theory goes out the window. The whole thing is dumb. The only thing Ultimate about BMW in 2015 is their branding. Their catalog steps all over itself and makes a mess. I'm not into it at all.

Honestly, I wish they would just chuck the X6, X4, the GT's, the GC's, and the X1. They have a 3 series, the 4 series (a coupe version of the 3), and the 4GC (a seden version of the coupe version of the sedan...). I get why they switched the two door 3 series to 4, to match the 5-6 series. But then they went and made four door 4 & 6 series. WTF?

All they need is

1Series: hatch/coupe/convertible
3Series: sedan/coupe/convertible/wagon/SUV(X)
5Series: sedan/wagon/SUV(X)
6Series: coupe/convertible
7Series: sedan/SUV(X)

All should be RWD or AWD. Maybe they can keep the 6 series Grand Coupe in some form, maybe call it the 7 series coupe, or take the 8-series name for it since they don't use that anyway. Or make it more badass and call it the 9 series? IDK. Everyone seems to love that car, so maybe they should keep it in some form.

I've seen $65k as a guess at the starting price. Nothing official I presume?

As soon as they made the M3 the M4, i lost all interest in any future products.

Yeah, I'm totally confused by their naming convention nowadays...

But the car looks nice! :D

Isn't this what the M3 used to be?

Smaller. I think.

Would prefer the hatch version (is that a 1 series still? M1?)

They don't sell the 1-series in the US anymore because the 1-series is now only the 5-door hatchback that they always sold in Europe. The 2-series is the old 1-series coupe and convertible.

Smaller. I think.

It's smaller than the current M3/4, but basically the same size as the E46 M3.

They've gone bonkers.
Maybe the disguised/hidden emissions from VW cars has warped their brains. ;)

I really like this. My one gripe looks wise is the upper part of the vent below the headlights, that's atrocious. But the rest looks great.
However I hear it's going to be a bit of a porker at 1600Kg, by all accounts BMW now quote dry figures rather than kerb weight.

Is that why the cool audis are odd numbers now?

I don't pay attention to BMW. But when I heard they were making an M2, I assumed it was a modern followup to the M1. Now I see it's this.

I'm going to go vomit in the toilet to the point of dry heaving... bbl.
