I'll give you 25-1 odds that he does a wild card at Phillip Island. I'm thinking that if Dovi's downward slide continues through LeMans, Petrucci gets the ride for Mugello and the rest of the season.

Rare White Ape
April 11th, 2016, 11:56 PM
Yeah, he hasn't had the best season.

He should also be watching his back if Lorenzo signs with Ducati, which is looking increasingly likely according to rumours. There'll be no room for him, since he currently stands as the team's lead rider (a role which Lorenzo will take over) and he hasn't shown the promising talent that Iannone delivers in spades when he's not crashing.

Godson
April 12th, 2016, 01:50 PM
Consistent actions I think will help him over the wreaking ball that ianonne is. And I really like Io

Rare White Ape
April 12th, 2016, 11:38 PM
Yes he's consistent, which is great for being a solid part of a team, but he is not fast. Not by any stretch. Rossi, Lorenzo, Marquez and Pedrosa (the aliens) are fast. Dovizioso sits a bit below them alongside your Crutchlows and Smiths and your Esparraragaraos, and above the rest of the field, except for Iannone and Vinales.

Those last two riders are the young ones, and I think one of them will be the first rider who is not one of the four aliens to win a MotoGP championship.

Yep, I'm calling that now.

Reynard

Yeah, maybe he's not adverse to a little stick & ball games once in a while for all I know but he certainly is famous for his enjoyment of the pussaye.

Personally I really hope Mav stays at Suzuki. They have no factory constraints, a deep, deep desire to win another world championship and according to Tom O'Kane (Aleix's crew chief), have some new secret tech (possibly suspension related) that nobody else in the paddock have yet. I want to see them succeed.

So how I'd personally like to see the cards fall for 2017 is Mav & Johann Zarco @ Suzuki. Vale & Ianonne @ Yamaha. Jorge & Dovi @ Ducati. Marc & Alex Rins @ Honda. Tech 3 could be Team Espargaro if Herve is ok with getting another ex factory rider (a la Dovi) instead of the usual rookie/development rider. Dani can either retire or go the Hayden route if he wants to stay in the GP paddock and look for the best available seat, though I really can't see him riding a Ducati... perhaps alongside Bradley at KTM.

Alan P
April 21st, 2016, 07:00 PM

So shockingly ;) my predictions are already starting to unravel but I gotta say, seeing Folger signed by Herve today makes me happy. He and Zarco have been faves of mine since their days racing 125's.

Now I guess Pedrosa or Rins are likely Vale's new teammate if Mav stays at Suzuki.

This is excellent. Rossi responds to accusations of Michelin having brought a special tyre for him, so that he would win at Jerez. His reply? "It must be difficult finding 113 different excuses."

1. Ducati officially announces Dovizioso will team up with Lorenzo for 2017 and 2018 seasons. Iannone is out of Ducati's wing.

2. Honda officially confirms Dani Pedrosa for other two seasons: 2017 and 2018.

3. Maverick Vinales is 90% a certainty at Yamaha, by Valentino Rossi's side.

4. Iannone is very probably going to replace Vinales at Suzuki.

Source? Autosport.com. Oh my.

Rare White Ape

Iannone might be a good match for the lively Suzuki, which is now probably more if a head banger than the Ducati was two years ago. Now it just needs the power to match the top factories.

Or Iannone could be shit. Time will tell.

Even a year ago, certainly no more than 2, you'd never expect a Yamaha to keep a Honda behind it. Yamaha have really improved their engine over the past couple of years, without affecting their cornering speed they've always had.

Rare White Ape

It's the Michelins. The bike feels like it did ten years ago when he owned the world. He's able to ride it hard on the front in a way that you never could with the Bridgestones. The kids (Lorenzo, et al) didn't grow up with those tires, so they don't know how to ride them quite as well as Rossi.

The fucker is 37 years old and still bangs as hard as anyone.

Flag-to-flag rules for wet races allow them to change bikes with different setups (tyres, brakes, ECU, etc) if the conditions change. The aim is to allow the race to carry on without having to red flag if it starts raining, but we saw yesterday that it can still rain so much that they have to red flag it when it gets bad.

It's not unheard-of for riders to leverage F2F if they crash. As long as they can ride their bike back to the pits they're allowed to change. In 2014, both Marquez and Pedrosa crashed at Aragon, but got back on their bikes, swapped for new in the pits, and still finished in the points.

But that's only for F2F races. A dry race is like normal. If you crash, you have to ride the same bike to the finish.

Marquez ended up winning the championship that year by about a thousand points.

Back at The Island.
Title has been decided and maybe that's taken the wind out of the Yamaha guys as they were strangely off the pace in practice and qualifying. Can't remember having both factory Yamaha miss the front few rows.
Marc is looking untouchable, but should be interesting to see who can go with him.

I gotta give it to the U.S. channel BeIN sports. They really stepped up with a nice broadcast package. I don't think they included quite as much of the English language guys behind the scenes stuff that Fox did, but P4-Q2, Moto3,2,GP all live. And they even broadcast the Valancia test this week live. Only issue was the way they scheduled the broadcast, or the way Dish organized it in the guide, so the races were all one long broadcast, so I had no choice but to record Moto 2 & 3. And a couple times, they were seperated as different races, but with identical info, so the DVR skipped the later races. That means I never saw the Valencia race.

Dicknose
November 19th, 2016, 11:55 AM
That's a hassle!
Out free to air coverage has been getting worse. A few years ago it was all classes and motogp qualifying. Now it's just the motogp race. F1 is worse, it's about half the races live, the others a most-of-race package the next day.

A good season, very surprising with the number of different winners. Might have guessed 5 at the start (both Honda and Yamaha, plus a bolter) but it was amazing how many others stepped up, especially in the dry.
