View Full Version : Should a CPU ever show 800MHz at idle?

I noticed something today I haven't noticed before, the CPU fell back down to 800MHz on desktop idle. Is it supposed to do that? Previously it's varied between 3.6GHz and 3.9GHz.

Generally I'd say that's fine. it will do the whole 'low power' mode thing when not being taxed. You should be able to disable it in the BIOS if you're worried.

Which option is it in BIOS?

The EPU Power Saving is already disabled, if that's it.

EDIT: Ah, it's the speedstep settings
