Blah blah blah blah blah blah Zelda.

Basically.

Starts next week! Here's the presso schedule. Nintendo is last, of course.

If the table above doesn't show click this: http://www.kotaku.com.au/2016/06/the-e3-2016-press-conference-schedule/

I do wonder if going last is inspired or foolish. If you have something amazing to launch (NX?) and the rest of E3 has been a bit of a letdown you can steal the headlines easily. Alternatively if two or three companies really knock it out of the park then there won't be any column inches left to fill. Confidence or ignorance. A fine line.

Nintendo isn't even having a real press conference or Nintendo Direct, they're just hosting live play sessions of Zelda and some 3DS games. I don't think the NX will be shown at all (as that's what they've explicitly said), they're going to wait until later in the year.

It's too bad it's apparently much harder to get into these days, my birthday falls on E3 this year.

Yeah, it had gone from a press thing to a consumer thing (where it kind of got out of control, expense and stunt-wise, and was at risk of dying) and now back to a press thing.

Oh yeah, I completely understand. It's mostly supposed to be an industry thing, they're trying to advertise to companies that want to work with them. Us consumers just get in the way of that.

The last time I went it was so packed inside it was useless even as a consumer, so I'm not surprised that they cracked down.

Watch Dogs 2

Set in the San Francisco bay area, more hacking, parkour, co-op instead of adversarial multiplayer. It seems even more like Ubisoft's GTA, differentiated by the hacking.

Thankfully Ubisoft does not have a reputation for showing one thing at E3, and then releasing something that's a shadow of what they promised, especially not in the case of Watch Dogs 1.

Some really fucking interesting shit has been announced at E3. I'll just post stuff that may or may not have their own threads already, just for the hell of it.

Firstly, Death Stranding (PS4), the new game from Hideo Kojima:

I don't know what it's about, or into what genre it fits (my guess will be horror, if the P.T. fiasco with Konami is anything to go by) but I want to play it.

Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4), looks to be an intriguing mashup between Zelda and Far Cry: Primal.

The Last Guardian (PS4) - another Zelda-esque adventure-'em-up.

I dunno what the hoopla is about this game, but apparently it was a thing and people were happy, then it stopped being a thing and people were sad, but now it's a thing again, and lo, people are ecstatic. I'm just okay with the whole thing. Which is good.

New God of War (PS4). It's... a new God of War game.

Steep (PS4/PC/Xbone) is a massively-multiplayer open-world snow-based multi-sports title-game.

I'm actually pretty amped (heh, get it?) about this one, as we haven't seen a decent snowboarding title for a good long time (not since 1080 on the N64 if you ask me), plus the addition of other extreme sports like base-jumping with wing suits sounds like a good mixture for glorious motion sickness. I loved the SSX series, but I can see how it would turn people off.

I liked the first few SSX titles. Then it got a little crazy.

The last SSX title, just called SSX, was arguably its least crazy. Which some people complained about because it lost a lot of the silliness/over-the-top nature. I don't remember a ton about it: Marisol was either hidden or not in the game at all, and I kept trying to beat Scawt's scores on trick challenges.

I think I got that one free on the X360... My son likes it a lot. :) But, I haven't played it.

That game was amazing. Very underrated IMO. It had a really great concept with the global trick challenges. Also, I'm pretty sure you didn't *try* to beat my scores, you destroyed them.

The only thing that bugged me is that I basically came to a full stop once I got to MAC in the single player. I couldn't do *anything* to pass that first challenge! It was bad and I felt bad and I quit because I'm a loser.

That, as well as no sign of No Man's Sky either.

IMO they're better off finishing the damn thing than working on a playable slice for an E3 demo. And if they only showed a video, people would start rumor-mongering even more about it not being ready.

Plus it's from a really small unknown developer. They probably don't have the budget for an E3 event.

I got access to the Steep closed Alpha!

But I had to agree to an NDA so I'm not allowed to talk about it :(
