Seems like everyone is doing public beta tests these days. It's a nice way to demo a game with heaps of its content well before the launch period.

are any of the latest F1 titles any good (2014-2017)?
recall EAs F1 Challenge '99-'02 being surprisingly good with everything after just worth a rental

If you've got a PS4 you can try the demo for 2016.

I erm… have a copy of F1 2015. It's actually really good to play with a game pad. The handling isn't exactly PC sim level but I'd put it up there with Gran Turismo in terms of depth and nuance. Great graphics, and the AI is nice and tough.

On the downside it is bloated with career mode character progression shit, at least the 2016 version demo is. You'll want to skip all that and go straight to custom events or multiplayer. I turn off all the commentary and info overload screen displays to make the game nice and simple.

In all, I think they're doing the F1 franchise justice
