Ok, so the justification goes like this...

The '96 Miata is a car I've had for far too long to part with, and in real terms it's not worth too much at this point, no point in ditching it for a modest amount of cash. This car will probably be stored in some secluded area until a time in my life where I have to avenge someone's death, and then I'll unearth it for the ride of my life... Picture that Charger in the first Fast & Furious.

The Lotus is well, the Lotus, and how can you part with a Lotus... Selling this is a non-starter.

The 2007 Miata would fit the bill of a fun summer car that is not as extreme and delicate as the Lotus, but not as much of an old, modified basketcase as the '96. It's a sensible sports car.

All of this makes sense somehow.

Meh, the 1996 blue book value is $3300. And I'd have to find someone who wants to buy a modified, megasquirt-running car. What's even the point? I own camera lenses more valuable than that. I'm not going to sell off 12 years of memories for $3300.

Got it home last night. It's undoubtedly a bigger, softer, cushier Miata, but when you really start to toss it around, it has the same spirit underneath as the NA. I don't mind it, but I can't see selling the NA.
