View Full Version : Getting that New Car Itch Again....

Damn my ease of boredom.

I've had the Si for 2 and a half years (+/-), and while it's fun, it's lacking.

Since I'm driving a little more (commuting), I've gotten to spend more time behind the wheel.

That being said, I don't know what I even want to try and look at.

My wish list is short:
300-400hp
Navigation
No more than 4 years old
$35000 max

I'm sure that should narrow it down. :finger:

STi? M3? M5? SS? 300 SRT8? Grand Cherokee SRT8? Mustang GT?

The options are numerous with those stats :D

Auto? Stick? Two seats or four? Drive wheels?

Nothing else said, I think I'd either get a CTS or a Mustang, though I'd strongly consider a Focus RS or Cayman.

Local autocrosser just advertised his C6 Z06 for 38k, FWIW... edit: It's an '08, so I think the only criteria it satisfies is having NAV...maybe.

Infiniti Q60 coupe? Comes with a turbo 4 OR a 3.0 v6 turbo. And they look niiiiiiiiiice.

BTW, I think NAV is a silly thing for anyone to care about in buying a car. Unless you are constantly using it and don't like using a phone mount. Most nav systems are terrible, and only get worse the older the car.

I was recently looking at the new Q60 pretty hard. They still sound great. I don't know how Nissan manages to make V6's sound so good.

$15,000 for a daily, and $15,000 for a track car. Keeps you $5k below budget.

More specifics, I'd prefer manual. Obviously with the power range, it'd be AWD or RWD. (300+ FWD, eek).

Number of doors not really important.

Still early in the "hunt".

Used base Vettes around 4 years old can be had for $35k

Okay, then I stand by my mish-mosh of ideas. :)

The SS was one of my "upper end wishlist" items a few years ago...

On the topic of Nav I agree, since the last Sync3 update I've been running google maps through android auto in the FoST here lately instead of using the Ford Nav, this past saturday fords nav tried to send me through a neighborhood that was a tiny gravel road down in columbia instead of taking the next turn off the main road.

On cars with built in HUD, navigation would be worth it just for the directions popping up in your line of sight. Then you can turn off the audio cues.

As I do in the 6. Took a while to get used to not looking at the center console, but now that I'm properly adjusted it's great.

E92 M3. Amazing car. Poster child for "masks its weight well." Remarkably nimble with the EDC turned up a notch or two.

Doesn't necessarily fit all your criteria, but it's not too far off and it's the best "do it all" car I've driven that I can recall right now.

Also, Coyote-powered Mustangs are good value and pretty awesome.

Theres a 2016 Charger R/T with Nav and heated seats for 24000 here. 48000 miles on it already though.

There's part of me leaning towards an SS.

There is a black one that is across the street that I see once in a while. Beyond that, I've not seen one on the road. I cant seem to find any for sale, which makes me want one more.

I've never really wanted anything anyone else had.

Examples: RSX-S, in Indiana.
The red car (anywhere)
Current: I've only seen 2 other Civic Si here in the 2.5 years I've had mine.

The SS would definitely fit that criteria as well.

No manual trans for the SS, FWIW.

That said: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/New+Cars/cars+under+35000/Chevrolet/SS/Jacksonville+FL-32220?zip=32220&showcaseOwnerId=562351&listingTypes=new%2Cused&startYear=1981&numRecords=25&sortBy=derivedpriceDESC&maxPrice=35000&firstRecord=0&endYear=2018&modelCodeList=CHEVSS&makeCodeList=CHEV&searchRadius=0

Looks like you'll have to travel if you want one immediately.

I thought the SS had a manual (option)? (Or do you mean none listed have manual?)

That said, I saw a '14 STI hatch today, that got me thinking too.

Hmm, looks like you're right. It got a manual in '15. I guess there just weren't any listed on AT. :)

They added the manual and the magnetic suspension as options a year or so in. Wouldn't be surprised if the people that got them do not want to part with them.

drew
August 4th, 2017, 12:58 PM
They are somewhat hard to find, anyway.

Considering what a CTR is going (gouged) for, you can get an SS for the same cost.

People are dumb.
