I have had a 2006 CVPI since about 2015. Since then the transmission had been rebuilt and had new tires and brakes among the normal maintenance.

Last two days its started with a rubbing/vibration that I can't figure out the cause of.

Only happens above 40mph and only in left turns. Pulled the tire off and snooped around. I see nothing out of place and no obvious wear from rubbing.

The splashguard thing seems flimsy but I dont know if that would be the issue.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Ball joints are worn out.

Balljoint or wheel bearing

Ball Joint.

Turns out it was the wheel bearing. It managed to disintegrate the ABS sensor as well.

Next mission is the Airbag light. Seems to be a sensor issue with the passenger seat belt pretensioner. So I probably need to visit the take a part or shell out a bunch of cash to Ford.

Why do you want to fix it? State inspection, or just the general concern that it won't deploy with the light on?

Honestly the passenger seat barely ever gets used. I just want to be rid of the annoying light plus the delightful noise that accompanies it every time you start the car.

The various warning lights are the brightest things on the dash, I even avoid using high beams due to how bright the dash light is for them.

Have you tried applying a little Scotch tape over the light to dull it a bit?

So the blower motor seems to have died.

A couple weeks ago I noticed it was blowing really weakly while accelerating, steady cruise or idling while stopped. It'd suddenly go to full speed while braking though. Then Monday I get in the car and its not working at all. Hit a bump on my way to work and suddenly its back on, worked fine on the drive home as well. Today no go at all. No airflow no noises. After work I smacked the blower and it started working weaker than ever but then stopped after a while.

So, since they aren't super expensive and the car is 12 years old I'm just going to replace it. I have a bit of confusion that maybe you guys can help with however. While looking online for them I see Clockwise and Counter Clockwise blower rotations. Does it matter which one I get?

It probably(?) matters. And honestly, that sounds like it might be the blower motor resistor, assuming that its a separate part number, which I think it is.
I can't fathom what would inspire ford to do two different designs of a part that late in a vehicle's life - is the part you're looking at complete with the squirrel cage? Because that might have something to do with it.

Full assemblies including the squirrel cage. Third party.

It worked when i smacked it so wouldnt that rule out the resistor? It is a separate part from the blower assembly.

I was thinking the resistor was basically attached to the motor. But then I've been out of the car parts business for over 15 years now (?!?), so I'm basically an idiot at this point.

Maybe make a quick post on a crown vic message board?

Checked a few posts on there. Seems it might be the blower but both are fairly low priced. Might just replace one and then the other if it doesn't work.

Blower replaced, things work fine now.

And as per usual once I've fixed one thing something else happens.

Someone hit the car last night. Passenger front suspension is probably obliterated. Rims bent in two spots and the car was shoved at least 6 inches to the left and onto the curb/grass. Cops found the person and I'm assuming arrested them. In the meantime I've got to find alternate transportation for work.

I remember reading an article about Crown Vics a couple/few years ago when they were being discontinued. IIRC, it said one reason police departments and taxi companies liked them is because they could be rebuilt pretty much indefinitely.

Good luck.

And I hope they catch the guy and cast him down with the sodomites (as Warden Norton would say).

She's been caught. Not sure what all the charges ended up being.

Waiting for the police report so my INsurance company can get her info.

Well the Reports come through. The Vic has been picked up and is on its way to Co-Part in Indy so they can estimate the repairs.

Wednesday I picked up my rental. It was supposed to be intermediate class so a Hyundai Elantra or something similar. They didnt have anything similar apparently, so they gave me a 2018 Dodge RAM 1500. Man compared to the Vic this thing is luxury.

Now I'm waiting for confirmation of the Vic being totaled. While surfing and looking at cars for sale. Because of the stupid rental now I want a nice truck. There are a few similar 2018s I've seen in the 30 to 35k range. So I've been overthinking what to do. Get something brand new, used but current year or older used.

A loaded older truck is the better financial decision. I'd highly recommend a platinum f150. Has everything the limited has except AWD and some of the frilly options. Usually they are cheaper. A 2011-2014 platinum should run around 20k with 100k miles. The 15 would be a great step up in fuel economy, but expect to add 5k to the tag.

Different worlds ... electric cars are flying off the yards here, and suddenly the V8's are all cheap. Petrol prices spiking like a MOFO here.

Getting just about 3k for the car.

Gonna have to find my new eide by Saturday if I don't want to pay for the rental myself.

This seems a massive difference in price between old car and new? Big up in the world moves :)

Down payment on the truck was about 2.5 times what the car cost in full.

I've been busy with work. Running 7 days a week and will be for all of November. They offered an incentive that gets me a bit extra on top of my normal overtime money.

So first issue with the truck and its due to the cold.

Went to roll the window down and heard a pop noise. Window didn't move. Fell halfway down when I got out and shut the door.

Got it to go back up but something is definitely disconnected inside thendoor.
