I have been pondering about this for some time.

If you could have any VEHICLE you used to own, but no longer do, what with it be? Why?

For fun, what is over car you owned that you don't miss at all? Why?

I'd very much like to have the E24 M6 back. It was a really fantastic car with a lot of potential that I didn't have the resources to put towards an effort to make it great. I sold it before moving to WI so I wouldn't have to trailer it to WI and garage it once I was there. It's in better hands now but I miss it.

I don't care for the '85 Corolla I had in high school. Very uninspiring car; a true appliance.

Well, I don't own that many cars..., but 2 cars come to mind with your questions...

I'd like to have my '07 TSX back. It's almost like a roomier and more luxurious S2000. We traded it in for a bigger SUV because we got tired of bending over to carry the baby seat in and out of the middle bench seat... In retrospect, should've kept it. It also seems to have an ageless look... to me, at least.

The car I don't miss at all would be '98 Escort Sedan. Bought it because I accumulated $4000 worth of rebate on my Ford creditcard so I got a pretty loaded Escort for less than $10k. Thought I got a good deal..., but the car was lousy to drive and not comfortable to sit in... not very fuel efficient nor was it very reliable... well, late in its life I gave it to my dad to drive and he didn't pay attention to coolant level so it ended its life with a cracked header. I don't think it reached its 10th birthday...

I miss my MX-5, even though I barely fit in the thing. I'm just too tall for that kind of car, but it was just a blast to drive.

I, thankfully, haven't had a car that I really didn't like, so I can't say that I don't miss any of them. Other than the MX-5, I had an '88 Corolla GT-S, '90 Celica GT, and '00 Celica GT-S. They were all pretty fun in their own ways.

If it was reliable, my 306 GTI-6. Loved that car. it was just a pile of French guesswork about electrical items

'87 Olds Toronado. Why would I want it back? Because I loved the hell out of that POS.

Weirdly - Probably my 1st car, a 1980 Toyota Corolla. I think its probably just nostalgia, but in my memory that thing was like a zippy little go-cart that I could fix with a hammer and would stop on a dime. It cost $200 from my aunt who had bought it new and would drip red all over the pavement when it rained due to the sea-air oxidation it got when she lived in Huntington Beach through the late 80s. Seemed like it weighed about 500lbs wet, and after I adjusted the valves (for maybe the 1st time since it left Japan) it was surprisingly quick.
I occasionally browse ebay motors and craigslist in fits of nostalgia, but I don't have the slightest idea what I would do with one if I pulled the trigger - Not fast enough to do any kind of racing, not interesting enough for anyone to care if I showed up at a cruise night, and not comfortable or mpg-ey enough for daily driving.

my first MR2 (of the 3 that I've owned)....the Turquoise 1993 N/A. I'd repaint it silver and swap in a 4th gen 3S-GTE turbo

Would like to have again: My 1997 MX-5 Miata M-Edition. It was just plain fun, even if it made all of 115 wheel horsepower.

Wouldn't want to have again: I haven't had anything that was really terrible. My 1985 Accord LX would probably be the least desired due to safety advances (airbags, crash protection, brakes, etc).

While I enjoyed the heck out of all the vehicles I've owned, I probably would not take any of them back; mostly because I have a different lifestyle now. There are lots of great cars out there that I have not owned yet. :)

Probably none of them. The Altima was a slightly better car than the MS3 when it was running at full power, but Bluetooth is great.

I don't miss my first car, the little Ford Escort.

I wouldn't want any of the four cars I used to own because they were worn out and in need of major repairs when I finally had to give up on them. The pattern continues as I find myself driving a 20-year-old car with over 250K miles, and one major repair away from having to go car shopping again.

Still, I would like a nice old VW Beetle again someday - just not one of the two I used to own. Or maybe a Karmann Ghia...

Would the car I used to own be as I left it, as I initially bought it or from brand new?

I still really miss my 1995 Tealbaru of Doom. Loved that car, just an absolute joy to drive. But I would not want it back as I left it, but I would trade my current car straight up; from the time I bought it or from brand new.

As far as cars I didn't like, I'm don't think I have had one. I have enjoyed them all in their own ways.

I would love to have the Beast back and driveable. Techincally we still own the Beast, but it's nowhere near in a driveable state. Needs probably about 40k worth of work to make it useable again. Hands down though, if I had the money, I would do it.

Ok, let me clarify.

As if you had it from new. I would say from when you bought it, but my choice would have been....in pieces from day 20(?)

My picks are:

Most missed :

'99 911. I loved driving it. I didn't realise how much I did until just recently. If the right scenario happened, I might own another. However, I love my new toy for the time being.

Least missed:

1991 Volvo 940. Better know as Bertha. That fucking thing pushed my every button, the entire way. It was maddening. I almost lost a friendship over it. I did learn a fuck ton about who and what I was though.

Would love to have my 2004 Dodge Neon back. I remember when I was in 8th grade and I cut out a picture of the neon by Plymouth because I was obsessed with it. It was a great little car that I had no issues with.

My 2002 Alero can go rot in hell for all I care. I swear it was a lemon because it caused me nothing but trouble since they day I purchased it.

That Alero had amazingly uncomfortable seats. Like concrete for the base and a plank of plywood for the seatback.

You had them put a sunroof in when you bought it from the used car dealer.

The car I'd have back (if I had another garage) 88 Toyota MR2 supercharged hardtop. Sadly it got driven into the back of a tractor by the subsequent owner (who was also the previous owner ... I bought it off him, and sold it back to him again).

It wasn't particularly amazing at anything, but was a nice little car to throw around. Plus, just stupidly rare in that condition now.

Car I'm glad to be rid of the most, 1984 Fiat Uno. Every time I drove that car, something broke.

I know, I really like having a sunroof. Remember the terrible exhausted pipe it had??? I probably should have never bought that car.

Well yeah ... though even driving it to the shops, the bonnet (hood) would pop open, and a window switch would break.

^^^ Stuff like that makes me remember the crummy old cars my friends and I drove in high school...

...and college.

And beyond...

Despite my grumpiness about modern cars and their mostly superfluous, complicated, and expensive "features", it is clear that some of today's old cars are much better than some old cars of yesteryear. My 20-year-old Honda is still a solid car that is smooth and quiet and it will still go faster than I care to on the highway without sounding or feeling stressed.

My first car was a '74 VW SuperBeetle. Although it was only ten years old when I bought it, it already had the typical rusty floorboard under the battery which was under the rear seat. And I don't mean surface rust - there were little holes that showed the ground underneath! There must have been the tiniest of leaks in the fuel line near the gas tank, which of course was above the driver's and front passenger's knees behind the dashboard. I didn't have puddles of gas in the front luggage compartment or inside the car, but it always stunk of gasoline when I drove it.

Friends would get in and say "It smells like gas in here!"

"That's how you can tell it's running!" :D

If there was a least wanted car it would have to be the '80 Olds Omega I drove for less than a month in the fall of '92. Headliner sagged so much I always ended up wearing it as a hat. And there was this oil blow by problem. Worst car I've ever owned hands down. If the '79 Granada I bought from my uncle's ex-wife for $150 hadn't gotten totaled sitting in front of my dad's house after having it almost a month I would've driven it until the wheels fell off(what I literally did with the Omega).

I'd actually like to own an old Beetle, and turn it into a gravel rally car.

But I hate working on cars ... so it's probably a stupid idea.

My Subaru Impreza RS. It was a great car. Especially for the midwest winters.

I don't really care about any of the other cars I've had honestly.

I had a good friend who owned a 1979 Pontiac Phoenix in the late '80s. He kept a stapler in his car to take up slack in the headliner.

This was the Beast. The only difference was my car had a vinyl top that was a forest green. If I had the ability to get it drivable, I would do so in a heartbeat and daily it, even without air con and that's saying something living where I do.
