Ok - he deserves a thread.
Heck he deserves a kick in the bollocks and maybe a Vivian headbutt!

He died this week, but had been in poor condition after an accident a few years ago and hadnt done any new work for a while.

Very sad to lose such a great comic talent.

I still love shows such as Young Ones, Bottom and his appearances on Black Adder were great.
The live Bottom shows almost caused me injuries from laughing so hard.

Gone - but the laughs will live on for a long while.

Maybe this needs some youtube of his best scenes.

I still wonder why it's so hard to find streaming episodes of The Young Ones. I managed to find S1E1 the other day, that was some good stuff.

This house will become a shrine, and punks and skins and rastas will all gather round and hold their hands in sorrow for their fallen leader. And all the grown-ups will say: "But why are the kids crying?" And the kids will say: "Haven't you heard? Rik is dead! The People's Poet is dead!"

The Young Ones (and by extension, Rik Mayall) is completely immortal.

(Should start at 9:14)

Was quite gutted to see this on the news the other night. :( Have been planning to buy The Young Ones complete series on DVD for some time, but may fast track it now. Don't think i ever really watched Bottom, but it may be worth a purchase too.

R.I.P. :(
