... so they shall be named Roger, Roderick, Reuben, Reginald and, of course, Brian.

What's that, up in the sky? A bird? A plane?

No, it's this joke.

Monty Python?

I've been trying for 15 years to name a project 'Roger'. You lucky bastard.

"So what are you doing tomorrow"
"Roger the release"

Oh, and as an aside, my great work naming win was with a mate when they had to give all the teams in a call centre. I convinced him to call his team 'The Proletariat' which he told them was kind of a special forces unit in the Roman Legion. Took about 2 years before someone actually looked it up what it really meant.

My best win so far was using this symbol as an exit button instead of your usual cross (or whatever):

I just put it there and people call it the "running man button". nobody ever pulled me up on it, and now that software is used in hospitals throughout the world!

What system? I might have encountered it and not even realised it.

It's in a few components of a suite formerly called "WinChart" which I believe has since been re-branded. When I say "throughout the world" I mean "a few in Australia, at least one in New Zealand, and one or two in South Africa, Singapore, the UK and possibly Canada"

That would be throughout the world for sure.

We have lots of silly names for products, usually after people, then often chosen for a reference to a tv show (or an aussie hard rock band!)
So Angus, Tina, Amy, Victor, Derek, Rowan (only because Baldrick got knocked back)
Dont have Brian or Roger.

Wow, I suppose there are some benefits to having colleagues who allow you to get away with (in effect) murder.

Rowan (only because Baldrick got knocked back)

Disappointing. I would certainly use something called Baldrick - it would undoubtedly have a cunning plan.

I made a little robot out of bulldog clips (http://imgur.com/OA8kN) when dressing the Caltech seismic lab for San Andreas and placed it on one of the student's desks. And I wrote a whole diary page lampooning one of my co-workers and placed it face-up on another desk. I hope they can be spotted in the film.

It's fun putting your personal touch on something.

I was just advised by technical support that in order to create users without an email address in our DMS, I need to open the config file and set PorkChop=1. Case-sensitive "PorkChop."
