View Full Version : We just got a little closer to being in the future

Yet again, somebody invented something really crazy that seems impossible. Is it just me, or does stuff like this seem to be happening more and more?

I think we are reaching the steep upward slope on the exponential curve of technological progress, which is both exciting and frightening.

Interesting concept... It'd make a great hover board or make cars fly! However, surely it'd still need energy to make it work. Hopefully someone will soon invent Mr. Fusion.

Forgive me for saying this but it appears to be a... okay can't believe I'm saying this... a flying saucer.

The description of "more electrons pushing against the top" does explain it, sine the top and bottom are connected.

And there are already funky forces like the Casmir effect.
But it could be interesting if this is something that shows some unknown quantum effect.

As for propelling space craft, it seems it's going to be a very low thrust.
We already have plenty of those that are low power, low thrust (ion drives). Ok they do require propellant but it's not much compared to chemical rockets where the fuel is also propellant.

No propellant would be nice for satellites. It could keep them in orbit a lot longer with no need to refuel. Since the orbit is doing most of the work, wouldn't low thrust be adequate for doing the minor corrections to keep it in orbit?
