Had a guy saying he was from Microsoft technical support call to say my computer was infected, naturally I hang up. Week later same guy rings up claiming to be from BT Broadband. I know it's the same guy because I asked him and he admitted it. Am I thick or is this some of the dodgiest BS ever, or both (LOL)?

Dodgiest BS Ever, they're calling lots of people with the same scam all over the place.

I've gotten those in the US for years. Usually the caller sounds Indian.

Once in response to the scammer's initial statement, I exclaimed, "No you're not, this is a scam!" He then hung up on me.

The US "arm" of this scam has been shut down a few times, but it keeps popping back up. If I'm not busy, I hang out and waste their time, being the most infuriatingly incapable PC user in the world.

They have a new one ... the caller says, "your computer is causing problems, please press #1 to talk to a Microsoft Technical Advisor".
I sooo wanted to play, but I waited too long to press #1 http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/jcee/shrug.gif
