How about that Pikes Peak record?

Spoiler alert:

Pikes Peak 2018 has been run and won this past weekend.

Volkswagen has smashed the record in their all-electric I.D. R, which is basically a wing with four wheels and a huge battery, driven by Romain Dumas. (It could form the basis of a really pretty sports car, don’t you think?) The outfit now holds the electric, and the overall record for the run to the top. They beat Seb Loeb’s previous time in the crazy Peugeot by almost a whole minute.

I was trying to find some decent footage and this is the best that I could cone up with. Hopefully a full onboard run becomes available soon.

The I.D. R is now the king of Goodwood, posting the fastest overall time this year and holding the 3rd fastest all-time record. It’s only 2.1 seconds slower than Nick Heidfeld’s McLaren-Mercedes trip up the hill in 1999.
