A championship by me will require persistent midfield infighting. We will see.

Spreadsheet not fully functional yet, but pretty sure we have a power couple 1-2
If only I knew the single greatest spreadsheet guy in the Western world...
He's already made me spreadsheets in the past.
Was going to start one from scratch, but I think I'm just going to recycle the googleDocs one from last year
Yeah. He's been a fantastic help to me on a number of projects.
He's not playing this year so he probably doesn't even know there is an issue.
Picks
Excluding Team Suck: Albon, Perez, Russel and Norris were only picked once (no one picked Daniil Kvyat nor Robert Kubica)

For the record I did not contribute to Ashie's picks. We were sitting on the couch one day and she asked 'Hey, should I do that F1 thing?' and I said 'yeah, sure.' That was the total extend of our discussion.
It is fun seeing how the two-driver team doctrine is thriving, though. Will be fun to see if it bears out. Tough putting all the eggs in such a small basket.
If it were Rosberg then it might not be such a good idea but Bottas and Hamilton are respectful of each other. Thinking you’ve got it in the bag honestly.
Not sure we can count Ferraris out yet. Also if Max doesn’t crash, he should finish near the top in most cases.
Anyway, Aussie GP is like preseason testing. Remember Alonso thought now he could actually fight after this race?
Interesting start to the season. Looking forward to seeing how things pan out.
I'm thinking everyone's picks should be for the seat not the driver.
Rumors of Kvyat replacing Gasly already starting. No one picked Kvyat and I guess G'day, Alan and FaF would prefer the second Red Bull seat as opposed to Gasly back in a Toro Rosso.
Thoughts?
F1 is 90% car. Yeah, seat makes sense.
We've had the discussion before, the year Kvyat was demoted I believe. I think it's something people want in a theory sense but in practice it hasn't happened enough for anyone to suggest the change in the offseason.
I don't think Franz is going to let go of an experienced car developer before the summer break, not when there was technical shuffle in the offseason.
He did that last year....
Well... Brendon did allow the anti-Hartley tide to grow too strong TBH.
F1 politics are shit, but they've always been like that.
My personal thoughts, promoted Brendon to Redbull this year, on a one year, watertight development deal only, to give them a first hand understanding of the powertrain etc. Kyvayt and Gasley to fight for the Redbull seat for next year.
My thoughts would be that Kyvyat would have that seat easily .
Brendon was starting to find cracks in Pierre towards the end of the season.
Someone, or more likely more than one person at Torro Rosso really had it in for Hartley. Sure he didn't really excel but he didn't muck it up either and had some good results. I'd love to know what happened if Hartley ever writes a book or opens up about it.
I'd rather he spill the beans on the Merc mini1 to Ferrari.
1Isn't that what they say, that the Honda is the poor man's Mercedes engine?
You know your place on the team when they make you stay out on shit tires so you can try to slow down the field behind you just to give your teammate a chance to pull away.
Fuck you, Rémi Taffin.
Can't hardly believe the synchronized exit of the Renaults. Makes me think fuel, but Hulk's looked a bit more violent. Maybe damage due to fuel starvation.
I never saw the replay of Ric's car but there was definitely a poof on Hulk's. Ham/Bot picks should be illegal ;) I could have won the day if Leclerc hadn't had the issues he did. It would have been unexpected but I would have taken it ;)
Love that Vettle just spin out as if he's new to driving. Grrr, I wanted that second place!!!!!
Sucks that Charlie boy had to hold back by the ‘ultimate’ team order again...
Makes one wonder if they were suffering similar issue back in Australia as well...
Race 2 : Bahrain Grand Prix
Thought Bottas was gonna suck again and honestly expect Ferrari to start with a bunch of 1-2's.

Biggest problem with the pricing: didn't properly account for how reliable Ferrari and Mercedes were going to be (even with Leclerc's problem it wasn't a Renault-like total failure)
He was saved by the Renaults, his engine just might be very close to total failure...
Why did I pick Ricciardo!?
The hope was real. But the reality thus far isn't. He didn't really deserve another year of Renault reliability issues...but then again...he knew what he could be getting into, again.
He is playing the long game. He can have a car and a powerplant built to what he wants, he can't get that by any of the other options right now without playing second fiddle.
I guess all they are really shooting for is another 10 minutes of reliability :)
Yeah, i think they’re all pushing near their limits and reliability is now the main issue. it does seem like the only slow cars this year are Williams cars...
I do wonder why latest gen of F1 cars are so finicky. None of them can be consistently fast on all tracks it seems. Perhaps Mercedes’ approach of having 2 different chassis make sense now...
The other odd thing was the Haas cars... if I don't have Kevin as driver, I probably wouldn't care why he fell from 6th to 13th... as it turned out Haas was baffled by this as well. How can they have a high downforce setup and yet still couldn't get their tire temp up and sliding everywhere? Their tires only worked well with low fuel load, that's why they were best of rest in qualifying, but once it gets heavier fuel load, it'd start sliding?
https://us.motorsport.com/f1/news/ma...eless/4363110/
Maybe it's the weird tires. They should've reduced downforce and let the darn thing slide more in order to heat up the tires... :p

Universe: Will F1 be repetitive, boring, and most importantly predictable in 2019?
dodint: Yes. Give me HAM/BOT.
Well, most were predicting Ferrari would dominate. They screwed up.
Anyway, at least teams now are more equalized than before. Mercedes are not really dominating anymore and Hamilton really isn’t at the top of his game this year. It’s good to have Bottas pushing him...
Only the 3rd race. It’s gonna be a long season.
Hamilton led every turn of the race* and Bottas started on pole. It's pretty uninteresting.
*I didn't pay attention when HAM pitted. They stacked the pit so I can't recall if one of tbe Ferraris led a lap or not.
Meh race.
So you guys believe we should write Ferrari off again this season?
2nd race showed promise, right?
Yeah. Merc already has nearly double the points of Ferrari. When Max has more points than both Ferrari drivers then you need to be worried. Although that will probably not last past the next race. RBR still doesn't have the outright pace to beat Ferrari and Ferrari is still off of Mercs pace. So same shit as last year.
But the midfield battle is more fun to watch this year so there is that.
Meh
Mercedes has Hamilton and a more fired up Bottas and reliability. However, I still think other teams, particularly Ferrari, have more potential. My team will catch up...
So that's my season done.
Meh continues...
I still believe my team will catch up!!! One of these days, Mercedes going to fail to finish 1-2...

Ham/Bot can’t be stopped!
doesn't look like it.
I noticed that the current tool doesn't include the fastest lap bonus points. Has this been discussed? Do you want it to?
Of course!!! We want the most authentic fantasy possible! ;)
That sounds so strange. Authentic fantasy.
Thanks, but I'm using your spreadsheet from last year and just updating the point into column G of the Race tab.
Messy, but works
