I'm currently hurtling across the country at a breakneck pace. In Denver now. Iowa is much more beautiful than anyone gives it credit for. I missed a lot of photos because I was simply going too fast to pull over and catch them.

Great photos SLM!
A few weeks late getting photos off the camera, but a shot of the eclipse from Oregon:

Well, I just had the most surreal automotive experience of my life...

Great shot. But what was the experience? Driving out there to take it, then driving back?

Just driving on that road. It was so desolate, and then with those mountains on the horizon, it felt like being in a plane rather than a car. If you just focused on the mountains, there was very little else to give you a sensation of moving, so it was like how when you're in a plane and you have no sensation of actually moving if you look out the window.

I think I've been there. :lol::up:

Hunter S. Thompson based entire books on that.

I wish I could have driven across the entire country like that... It was magical. It was a drag to get back on the highway and deal with other people. I wound out the little Hyundai to about 110 a couple of times. I slowed down when traffic approached in case it was a cop, but I didn't even have to brake. When I saw someone coming they were still at least a mile away, I just coasted down. It was mental!

You should always try to get your exposure right in camera... Unless you shouldn't.
