My future in-laws got an induction stove top and apparently that can get water boiling ridiculously fast. Don't have a time/volume reference, though.

So I've got some news as well. We decided to get in on the ground floor (lol) of a relatively new twin home community. They should start breaking ground soon (I'd more confidently say today if it wasn't raining all day and in to the weekend).
We did enough searching and this place had everything, as well as that "good feeling" and some positive outside feedback about the builder. We looked at a different builder earlier this year and I got the exact opposite feeling.
Two car garage, second floor master, open concept first floor with a big island (+sink), fireplace, and hardwood floor. Living room gets carpet. We got the rough-in plumbing in the basement, as well as routed a gas line outside for the grill. The road is super wide, which is awesome, especially when it snows. Plus given the fact their twin homes and reasonably spaced, there shouldn't be an issue with parking.
We just picked colors and finishes last Sunday. Home is estimated to be finished by end of August, but given typical project timelines... let's say end of September, which is perfect as it would still be a month before the wedding.
Quick shot from the car as I was rolling by and noticed the "sold" sign. Left sold sign is ours... the driveway to it being where that truck is parked.

Render and floor plan. You'll notice there is "wall" sketched between the kitchen and living room. It's actually just a support beam and two columns, which we're putting outlets in. Once we saw that it was open we were *really* excited about it.

Nice sized garage.
Looks great
Must be super thrilling buying a brand new yet to be constructed home and be able to customize things... hope I can get to experience that some day too!
BTW, I applaud your bravery for making all of these important life decisions together like this! I'm not sure if I'd be able to stomach all that excitement! Congrats! :D
Thanks guys! Way too happy about the garage.
And I absolutely know this is going to spoil me. Because this (buying new construction) probably won't happen again.
I have nothing to add, other than I've made the mental choice to buy a home finally. Have a couple cards to pay off, and probably my car, before I can actually start any process, but the decision has been made. I'm tired of landlords.
So... any suggestions for a first timer?
I'd recommend looking for any grants etc. First. Downside right now is I think we are on the very beginning of the housing bubble. Houses around me are selling within days, my Zillow estimate went up 55k in the last 2 years ( that's over a 35% increase on purchase price).
I'd there is anything, get pre-approved. Nothing is worse than trying to buy a house and having someone who is pre-approved or cash beat you out.
I'm also one who says not to settle. A house is the most expensive investment you will ever make. Buy something that can you can grow into.
Location is king.
I want to put a 2.6" tire at the front. I think it clears the surly fork but I'm not sure it fits any of my rims.
Weird, not sure what happened to my post, so I'll try to do it again.
That's literally the same stove/oven unit we have. The 90 second claim is horseshit, but otherwise it's a fantastic setup. The right-front burner is crazy hot, enough that a simmer on it is a 2, and the dual ovens have come in handy a number of times already. We're super happy with it.
