Yeah, I think with small manufacturers, they can't just increase production if costs are higher than expected. Also, that makes the cars less rare, and less appealing if hundreds more are produced (for those who purchase based on a car's rarity)

I would guess someone like McLaren shares a lot of components between their various cars though, it certainly seems that way in their lineup!
