I saw an Alcyone/SVX in a scrap yard when I bought my first Subaru back in 1999. My brother had helped me get my 1985 Toyota Tercel Wagon to the scrap yard and I asked whether they might have an overhead grab handle for a Subaru, since one for my wife's side was not standard (but the holes were there). I believe I actually sat inside the SVX for a while to verify that the fittings were nothing like those for my Impreza. It was sort of a sky blue colour, I seem to recall.

Eventually we ordered a handle through the dealer's parts department. They suggested it was ridiculously expensive, but I recall it was only about $25. Now I think about it, if there was one on my side (perhaps there wasn't?) I don't know why I wouldn't have just switched it to my wife's side.

(We actually saved the similar handle from the Tercel; it sits on a knick-knack shelf to this day).

Yeah that sums up American cars - that square shaped front with horror grill.
I just find those damn fugly.

Also woodgrain panels - I mean I always wanted my car to look like it crossbred with an 1800s wagon.
And those who wanted a model woodgrain, lets go vinyl on the outside of a car. That will look good in a few years of sun... fade, peal and basically be a maintenance/look nightmare.

We had a few local and Japanese cars mimic some of these styles, but mostly avoided the worst of the US kitsch.
