When you need them, they're awesome, especially the coverage onto the shoulder of the road.

The next thing we need is some empirical fuel economy testing. I am still really considering a Ford turbo, and if the FiST has *really good* gas mileage I would forget all about the FoST.

Edit: Feedback on the nighttime interior was helpful - that was my biggest complaint about the FoST - the disco light interior was really distracting. I didn't notice anything like that in the rental Fiestas I had, so I'm happy to hear they didn't add anything to the ST.

More like heavy fog and stuff. I have used it in super heavy rain, but my speeds had slowed from 35 to like 15-20. Which is what they are designed for. The smarter person would just park the vehicle.

It's got the footwell/cupholder/glovebox mood lighting, but one of the color choices is black.

So you basically ignore the whole break in period thing

I personally hate how bright the interior lights are on most cars, myself... The Fiestas can be dimmed, but I wish you could choose the colors of more things to cut down on reflections. Red would be perfect. I use red for the "mood" lighting and don't find it distracting at all.

The owner's manual says there is no break in period.

    So, yeah....game on!

Technically there is a break in (pg 15 on the Supplement), but it doesn't say anything about not gunning it, so you're good to go I guess A lot of stuff I read on the great interwebs said to basically "take it easy" for the first 1k. I was probably paranoid

I certainly wasn't maintaining the same speed for long periods.

Interwebs are usually armchair jockeys with little experience. Follow what the book says. You want to build boost pressure on the car to help 'set' the piston rings. If the car is babied all the time and then driven hard, the engine won't be happy about it from my understanding of the mechanical side. NickT could probably explain it better knowing his profession.

So basically I fucked my car up

I took it mostly easy, only gunned it a couple times, but still shifted well short of the redline. I didn't hit redline until recently actually, and I'm already at like 2500 miles

Might as well go hit another deer I guess.
