Good luck actually buying anything. Tried to get a RTX 3080 FE on launch, went straight to out of stock on Nvidia's UK site. Tried to get a Ryzen 9 5950X on launch, managed to get one in the basket but it went out of stock as I was checking out. Don't expect availability of RX 6800XT/6900XT to be any better. Maybe it's a sign to get out of PC gaming and buy a new TV and PS5 instead?

Well, yeah, I didn't say I was in a rush to do so...

The R9 CPUs were sold out in minutes as well.

Maybe I should just get a TTRS and call it a day

Realistically it's a good idea to wait until Jan 2021 anyway. That way you guys might benefit from a price drop if the whatever-Lake is semi-competitive.

Plus, frankly, I spend most of my game time playing Genshin Impact, which my 6700K and 1070Ti, and my ipads, run perfectly well.

Yeah just be patient. Buying a PS5 wonít be a walk in the park for a few months either, with people still locking down and needing entertainment.

Iím thinking the best reasonably priced build for the moment (assuming GPU benchmarks meet expectations) will be a Ryzen 5 with an RX 6800 on the latest mobo and 16GB of fast RAM.

Iím skipping this generation of GPUs so Iíll see whatís what in two years.

I'm ready to have a go at Assassin's Creed Valhalla coming out this week, then CP2077 next month. I'll give them a run-through with the current setup, and likely build something end of the year, availability-depending.

I could just go psycho and get a 5950X and RTX3090.... But that's silly talk.

Drew, wait for the AMD cards. Their 3090 competitor could be much better for gaming (the 3090 is more for productivity) and be $500 cheaper.

Yeah yeah, I know. Just the thought of $2500 for CPU+GPU )only makes me laugh. Considering the best rated motherboard (ROG VIII) is also north of $500, and finally DDR4 4000 RAM (for a 1:1:1 with R9),

    What's $3000?

In all honesty, I think a 6800/6900 and R9 5800x would take care of it.

I find it odd (and interesting) that the bulk of the bench tests were games at 1080p. Granted that is a CPU bottle neck, but if you're planning on getting a new RTX 3xxx series or the new Radeon, why the fuck would you run at 1080?

I'm intrigued that I might finally get to go maxed out on 4k (obviously, not MSFS2020, fuck you Bill Gates).

Linus Tech Tips got FS2020 to run at low-70s FPS with the new Ryzen chips - all of them including Ryzen 5, vs low 60s with the outgoing Ryzens and current Intel.

Itís a CPU limited game. Bring lots of CPU.

I did not realize that EVGA has a queue based notification system on their website for the RTX cards. I guess if you sign up for the back in stock notifications, it adds you to a queue and when one becomes available and its your turn, you get notified and have eight hours in which you can pull the trigger and buy it. Signed up for a bunch of those, and in the meantime the search continues.
