Only your typical sporting event missed opportunity, no need to throw a tantrum or kick stage props, right?

Yes, thats pretty much exactly what they did. Kvyat let Dan through so he could attack for a podium but when that didn't work he gave the place back. Very good teamwork imo.

With the accidents I only saw each of them once and in both cases I was on the racing incident side of things with Dans looking the worse of the two. What I read is the stewards said that alonso lost the rear under braking and pushed wide and thats why he got a penalty and kimi left the door somewhat open then closed it too late and thats why dan didn't get one. Ultimately even if Dan got one and alonso didn't the result would have been exactly the same.

I'm not sure how mercedes managed to fuck up that pitstop call, surely at some point in the exchange someone, anyone, the fucking cleaner, should have stood back and said 'hang on, this is really fucking dumb, keep him out'.

My opinion of Nico continues to drop, completely outdriven all race, teammate gets screwed by a team call and he carries on like it was drive of the century. Complete douche.

Unfortunately NBC in the US cut off all the post race right after Lewis got out of the car, but the only quotes I saw from Nico were pretty humble and saying how Lewis was clearly better all week and should have won.

I was not aware Webbo shared any records with Hill Sr., Prost and Senna.

And yes, stewarding has been shit since at least Canada last year.
Hill Sr., Prost and Senna didn't have their record handed to them.

I have to say I thought both Hamilton and Rosberg handled themselves very well in the post race interviews. Hamilton was far from a drama queen, basically saying they would handle things behind closed doors, and wouldn't throw anyone under the bus. Congratulated Rosberg on the win. Rosberg was humble, kept saying he got lucky, how good Hamilton had been all weekend... frankly I thought it was handled great.

I think Lewis showed real maturity on track too. The Hamilton of 5 years ago, in the same circumstances, would have chanced a rash overtake and stacked it. The Hamilton of today decided that he wasn't realistically going to get past 2 cars in 7 laps at Monaco and that 3 points wasn't worth risking 15 and the championship lead for. Sucks to be only 10 points ahead when he should be 27 ahead though.

It was interesting to see the Red Bulls come in ahead of everyone except the Mercs and one Ferrari. It was their best showing of the season. Is it reasonable to assume that they have good down force and that's the reason they were so good here? They've been getting beaten by Toro Rosso at some tracks, with the same engine.

By the same token, Williams had their worst showing of the season, which would seem to suggest that their down force is not very good?

Could be a real good chassis with good mechanical grip, which Red Bulls usually have, along with pretty good aero. I'm not sure their aero is up to their usual standards this year though.

Also the lack of power from the Renault probably makes it more driveable out of the slow corners

It seems Mercedes' extra power probably ended up rendered all other Mercedes powered cars less drivable? Surely surprising to see Williams drop down like that... Honda's ability to remap their engine to increase drivability ended up allowing them to score their 1st points... So power is definitely not needed on this track.

But when back to real tracks like Canada, surely the Mercedes powered cars will be near the top again.

BTW, why is Berger looking as old as Lauda? Mika OTOH looks almost exactly the same as before! People sure age differently.
