I think it’s at the stage where these incidents are considered an acceptable risk. If what has happened in the last few years isn’t changing anything, I can’t see how any given incident will be shocking enough to cause change.
So many now that any impact has been lost, it’s just become “the new normal”

It’s uncanny how closely my thoughts align with this. Since I never browse Facebook or read/watch the news, usually the first I hear of a shooting is when this thread pops up in the recent list. I won’t even read it. Just seeing the thread lets me know that at least 20 have died in a shooting spree somewhere in the USA. It’s so ubiquitous that it’s almost unremarkable.

Even the audio bite of Trump addressing the shooting was little more than him going through the motions.
