Rocket League does it the Right Way. You don't have to spend a penny to play the game unless you want cosmetic upgrades.

Indeed. Overwatch is the same way.
I disagree on all fronts. Micro transactions, loot boxes, and any other sleazy monetisation strategies have no place in any game, unless it was free to begin with.
If you are going to charge for a game then give me free access to everything under that price (significant DLC content can be excluded) and don’t make it an unpleasant grind to unlock everything.
If you want to keep digging into my bank account then don’t bother unless the game was free. I’ll then be able to choose whether or not I want to pay extra and let the developer earn my money.
I’ll posit that Warframe does it correctly: a FTP game with paid cosmetics. GT Sport also does it correctly: a full price game with added content at no extra charge.
Nice
Assassin's Creed: Origins, yay or nay. I need a new "alternate realm".
I've never played any of them prior, so it's all new to me.
Maybe wait a few weeks for FarCry 5? That game looks bonkers.
I've not played a FC game since the original. Maybe it is time.
Is it PC? I don't have a console anymore
