BBC article (which I trust more) simply says that occupants being gassed is an issue and sometimes happens but there's no confirmation that Mr & Mrs Button were actually gassed.

Depending on the gas, they can do blood samples on the anesthetic agents used.

I hope the FIA can come up with a sensible solution and allow free tire choice in a simple way.
And also cut down data generation and gathering. I think JPM's right about his comment about F1 cars having too many sensors, but data transfer from the circuit to the base should also be capped.
