Correct, General Hux is the first guy, Captain Phasma is the female bare-metal trooper.

Intellectually I feel like TFA is going to at least be fun if not good. However, Ep 1-3 ripped out the part of me that cares about Star Wars. To murder a pop culture quote, TFA may be as good as pumpkin pie, but I'd never know 'cause I won't see the filthy motherfucker.

I'm wondering when the Star Wars BSG morph will happen, with the bare-metal trooper/Cylon.

Everything I've seen about SW:TFA is *so* back-asswards and turned around and straight loco that it just makes me surly.

I may pass on this. I've read so much of the extended universe that to have all that thrown out as non canon really, REALLY bugs me.

If superhero fans felt the same way they'd never watch any superhero movie ever. Keep the extended universe as one canon, enjoy the movie universe as another canon.

I'm much the same way. I lived those books all the way up and past the Yuuzhan Vong war to the very last books. It's gonna be super, super hard to tear myself away from it and forget it all ever happened. Which sucks, because I was always under the understanding that Lucas himself considered the books official canon and signed off on each one as it went.

    This.

What does it matter if it's official canon or not? You enjoyed reading the books, right? You felt emotions and learned or reinforced life lessons, that's what's important, not how "real" it is or was or will be.
