I would also put the blame more on inconsistent defenses than anything else. When the Packers won the Super Bowl in 2010, their defense was excellent. BJ Raji was unencumbered by injuries, and had an amazing year (3 passes defended, 6.5 sacks, 29 tackles, 10 assists). An NT getting that kind of pressure is huge for a 3-4 defense, and makes life easier for everyone else on the defense. IDK... I don't think he's the reason they haven't won more Superbowels. Even with a sub-par defense they almost made it to the big game. If they were able to keep the other team from scoring 1brazillion points a game, he wouldn't have to air it out every time. Doubley-true if he had a decent/capable running back. That one yearthat Lacey was good, he got the ball a fair amount. (GB was 12th in the league in rushing attempts)
But, without a consistent solid performer... why take the chance?

Steelers signed Knile Davis. Tyler, always liked him but he seemed hit or miss. Are Chiefs fans butthurt right now or happy to see him go?
I liked him, but He was unproductive for us save for one kickoff return last year.

Not yet...they are going to stick around for another couple years while their stadium gets built. That won't be awkward at all...
Happy to see them go. Oakland has spent way too much money on them.
