    RIP Ali

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing."

As a very white, baptist, new zealand child of the 70's I should't know Ali's name but instead I have vivid memories of watching grainy footage of an aging boxer try to reclaim his rightful place in the world while my father tried in vain to explain why he was not just one of the most important sportsman of the 20th century but one of the most important men. Not a man of his era but a man who shaped it. Not a man who walked the talk but a man who utterly and completely owned it.

Vale Muhammad Ali, an inspiration to all men, everywhere
