I'm gooder.
And the answer is: A wire Hanger!
I use them to hold the caliper up while I am doing other work so the brake line doesn't get damaged.

I use section of a poster tube, and just set the caliper aside deeper in the wheel well. Drives me up the wall having a caliper dangling where I am trying to work, no doubt chipping carefully applied paint off something.

I use brightly colored bungee cords, so they can't be missed
I am incredibly envious of your dad if he's got a 4-poster with a rack-jack. That's the dream for my future garage...in like 25 years

I'm gooder.
They are actually pretty economical, like 2K for the lift and 1K for the rack jack. It's just the building and land to house it.
And you could go economical there also with a pole building.

I am getting tired of my car. I feel I need something with a bit more umph and precision.
