Parts Guy
The entire theory behind living in such a place fills me with dread.
I look forward to my blizzard in a month or so.

Where are my keys?
Californians, come visit!
Bring buckets and barrels!
Plenty of fresh water will be falling from the sky, like Manna from Heaven, over the next 2-3 days.
We're expecting to be without power from Friday until maybe Monday or Tuesday next week. I have a portable generator, but it hasn't been used much in several years. I usually try to run a half a tank of fuel through it once per year in a feeble and unsatisfactory attempt to beep things from getting completely gummed up. I never got around to it last year. So it was all gummed up, of course.
I work overnights in a hospital. We start Disaster Operations tomorrow (Thurs.) at noon, which means I'll live here for 48 hours or so. And of course I waited to the last minute to be sure the generator was ready for my family. Earlier this morning, after work, I was in my driveway with small Honda engine carburetor parts all around me. Got it all put back together, but had an AWFUL time getting it started. I found out, pretty much by accident, that it will only run if it is super-duper-triple-strength-over-the-top CHOKED. Like, barely any air at all. The butterfly seems to be working OK, but damn it if it won't run without SEVERELY restricting the airflow. I literally have the air cleaner taped shut except for about a 1mm x 1mm square. Seriously. And it runs strong and smooth that way. Yes, I cleaned all the screens, filters, and sediment cups and float bowls.
WTF??
tl;dr
Generator small engine won't run without air intake choked down to almost nil.
Ideas?

We're headed to Tallahassee in a bit.
While I'm not that concerned, beyond a shit ton of rain and wind tomorrow (and the inevitable power outage), she'd feel better if we left. So, we leave.
Looks like Titusville and Daytona may get the worst of it.
Until it merges with Nicole, and comes back next week (what the fuck?!)

Waiting for the guy to come put my shutters up. I would do it myself if I had a 30ft. ladder.
