Went to the doctor and down to 229 lbs. First time I've been under 230 in twenty years. He's chalking it up to me taking control of my health and making some positive changes. I'll embrace the weight loss and pay more attention to what I am doing to help it along.

Hopefully that is true. For sure it's good to lose weight, but the frequent urination part is really bugging me... surely it's bugging you even more?

Anyway, maybe the doc is right, it's all part of growing old!

But here are some possibilities for you to watch out for if you enjoy playing doctor with yourself!

The frequent night peeing has gone way down. I bought a new pillow and that took away of the neck and lower back pain I was having. That might've also been a contributor to the up umpteen times a night to go. And it could just be my body clock because my wake up times range anywhere from 1:30-6 am.

    Been diagnosed with dysthymia.

Actually looking forward to the treatment, not so hot about the length of time it's going to take, but if I've got a broken leg i might as well get it fixed so i can run again, right?

    Hey, fellow dysthymic!
Good luck with the treatment - it's tough to find something that works, but if you can, that's great.
I probably don't have anything tremendously helpful to say beyond that, but feel free to PM if you've got any questions or just want to talk.

Don't know much about dysthymia, but just by looking at the symptoms, my wife seems to suffer from many of the same things for a while... So I've compiled a list of things over time that she can do to help...

The simplest and best thing to do is to try to move around more. Exercise of course helps, but any kind of movement can help mood. If possible move around in a more natural environment... http://www.spring.org.uk/2017/01/more-happy.php

    Gratitude can also help.

Just smile to trick your brain to become happier.

Lastly, mindfulness and meditations are proven to help brains feel happier. http://www.forbes.com/sites/jeenacho...gh-meditation/

Mindfulness is simply focusing more in present. Don't think too much about past or future. Also minimize multitasking. When eating, focus on enjoying the taste of your food rather than reading or watching tv or think about other things. Enjoy the moment with whatever or whoever you're with as much as possible. Meditation can also help. You can either focus on rhythmic breathing or just relax your mind and try not wander around with your mind too much. MRI can actually show people's brain structures change after a period of practicing meditation.

These are some of the non-medicinal ways to 'trick' your brain to become happier. Good luck man! May more happiness be with you.
