    Surely 2016 is a spike in the stats for famous people though. It's nothing in the grand scheme of things, but worth noting in relation to other years, plus the fact that it involves many people that we relate to and care about.

    I agree with you on other points however. Just because x happened a lot between date a and b, doesn't mean that x will happen again for the next period.

    Nah, we should just blame Lemmy. He died one year ago today, and set off this chain of events. Seems everyone wanted to follow the coolest cat in rock 'n' roll.

    I suspect it's probably just us getting older and thus noticing more and more of our favorite stars passing...

    When it's folks way before or way after our generation, we probably wouldn't care as much!
