The melee weapons in the trailer, supers, were a blue Captain America-style ricocheting shield, a purple bo staff, and an orange sword that was used only for slinging fire. They're also showing a bubble shield and a waist-height single direction static shield.
Gameplay-wise I'm not sure what, if anything, is different, but they announced some changes to the game overall that the crowd went crazy for.
- You can go to different worlds without first going to orbit
- All PvP is now 4 on 4
- They've added in-game clan support, with name, motto, banner, and rewards
- Raids and similar can be done in a Guided mode, where a clan puts out looking for 1 or 2 extra slots, which can be filled by single players that get to see the clan name, motto and banner before deciding who to join; the goal was to add matchmaking, without it being a free-for-all where you end up matched up with assholes
- The PC version will be on Blizzard's battle.net
