I couldn't find the exact page of the rulebook because the NFL puts it up one section at a time for some reason, but Dean Blandino is a pretty reliable secondary source here.

The play was called correctly.

So a hit on a player that could seriously injured him, is equal value to a tossed ball. I disagree entirely. This isn't something new that I have thought either.

You should listen to the announcing next game if you think the Chiefs announcers don't call out the players for penalties.
