    Michigan State

So Michigan State is starting to implode.

Among those notified was MSU President Lou Anna Simon, who was informed in 2014 that a Title IX complaint and a police report had been filed against an unnamed physician, she told The News on Wednesday.

“I was informed that a sports medicine doctor was under investigation,” said Simon, who made the brief comments after appearing in court Wednesday to observe a sentencing hearing for Nassar. “I told people to play it straight up, and I did not receive a copy of the report. That’s the truth.”

Among the others who were aware of alleged abuse were athletic trainers, assistant coaches, a university police detective and an official who is now MSU’s assistant general counsel, according to university records and accounts of victims who spoke to The News.
Wonder how far-reaching these effects are going to be? Sure didn't feel like Penn State got hit with near enough sanctions and penalties that actually stuck in the end (most of it was rescinded and their records restored).

To hear Penn Staters tell it their program was unjustly murdered and somehow managed to rise from the dead in full glory.

Penn State is the worst thing about Pennsylvania. Not because of the horrible actions of a few terrible old men, but the cult of denial that is so pervasive among alumni and fans of the college. It's disgusting.

There are far more people than just those at MSU who knew. I'd bet more than a few at USA Gymnastics did.

160 women stated he assaulted them. There is no way no one said something about it.

Edit- Harvey Weinstein only had 84 women accusing him and it was apparently a known secret that no one talked about.

Yeah, MSU and USAG are so much worse than Weinstein. Not just in numbers too, mostly because we are talking about underage victims, and systemic problems/cover-ups, AND the fact that he was being trusted as a medical professional.

Penn State was probably seen as worse because of the homosexual nature of it (sadly). The situations are of a similar nature other than that, and the medical aspects. I'm not familiar with the numbers regarding Penn State though.

It should be noted, this afternoon, the entire board of USA Gymnastics resigned.

As far as penalties go, I'm not really big on penalizing programs, so long as the entire staff is replaced from the President/Dean/AD down to assistant coaches of affected programs. At the very least, any kind of scholarship/championship/death penalty should be delayed 4 years to allow the kids that came to the school to not also be penalized. And any transfer students should be waived from the whole sitting out rules

As a swimming coach, this makes my head spin on multiple levels.

Like, I can't even put together a proper organized thought. It makes me sick. It fills me with anger.

    Yeah, it's disgusting.

And to no ones surprise, the NCAA allegedly knew all about [bad things at MSU], all the way to the top: Report: NCAA President Mark Emmert Was Personally Informed About 37 MSU Athlete Sex Assault Cases In 2010, Did Nothing (This involves MSU athletes committing assault. via: Deadspin)
