Night #3 without power. Only block in town without power it seems. I saw 5 trucks leave the area (there's some kind of substation or something) around 7p.m. Went back to check after work shift around midnight. No power, no trucks. Apartment is too hot now. Back at work, sleeping in an unused office.

    Lame.

I think I discovered our resilience to power outages here: we're on the Mayo's grid. A coworker lives close, and their on the same grid, but most of their neighbors are not. She has power, the neighbors don't (or didn't)

    Mayor?

It would be nice to be independent of the grid in situations like that. Although I wonder how much it would help having solar panels and a powerwall if the hurricane was blocking the sun. I guess that's why you need a windmill to compliment it. That would have charged your home for a few days.

Mayo Clinic. It's less than a mile from us.

That would be nice, provided the hurricane force winds don't rip your panels and windmill from your roof.

Or you still have a roof ...

Aren't Tesla's solar roofs supposed to be stronger than normal roofs? Or is that just against impact?

Night #4. Still no power. Remembered my uncle has a condo at the 4 seasons. Sleeping in (relatively) cool bed. Saw people sleeping outside in my complex....

Fuck, four days without power? Is that really happening?

Do you have any info on it? There's either some major infrastructure damage, or someone failed to flip a switch and the power company hasn't been told about it yet.
