The finest secretary's car that $700 can buy!
Just picked up a '99 Accord coupe for the princely sum of $700. My priorities are clearly visible in this photograph.
Stats:
- 4 cylinders
- 5 forward gears
- 3 pedals
- dented hood and damaged fender
- clunky rear struts
- worn front engine mount
- Not one, not two, but THREE new tires! Tire 4 is fucked, btw.
- 200k miles
- Everything works now that I've fixed the AC leak and charged it up. The leak wasn't even that bad, there was even enough 134a in there to kick the compressor on for short periods until the pressure switches would cut it out.
- Runs and drives shockingly well for a $700 anything.
- No codes or CEL.
- Surprising lack of body rust. A few lines and other spots look a little crusty, but nothing rotted yet.
Immediate plans are to get a new tire and new windshield wipers. If I get 4-6 months out of this car I will be the happiest beater owner on the planet.
The previous owner had a MIIIIIINT AW11 MR2 in the garage. Unfortunately that wasn't for sale.

Those wheel covers are sexy; reminds me of the ones I had on my '85 Corolla.

I was very close to going to the Kia dealer and buying a heavily discounted leftover ‘16 Soul with an undesirable combination of options/color outright but then this thing showed up in the subdivision adjacent to my own.
And you guys know how I do when it comes to daily drivers. Rust or bust!
