No I really don't like this. They mostly seem like a bunch of cheesy people just looking for a follow back. I had one person even follow me, I followed him back, he unfollowed me, I unfollowed him, and now he started following me again! It's like I got on some roster of people you can follow to get follows back. I lost about 70 of the new followers I had now. I'd rather just have good followers than these cheese balls.
They do appear to be real people, just shitty people.

Oh, that's just Instagram, don't put any thought into that. Don't follow someone just because they follow you.
Get that weak shit off my track
Burner account FTW.
I've come to the conclusion that 90% of people on Instagram are narcissistic sociopaths.
Nah, 90% of the content is by narcissistic sociopaths and/or people trying to sell you something, directly or indirectly.

I encountered that follow me, follow you thing on my SkylineObsession YouTube page the other month. Some random from the US subscribed to me and made a generic comment about my videos which made me wonder if he'd even seen them, and then asked me to return the favour and subscribe to his channel.
I didn't. And won't be. If you subscribe to me that's your choice - you're not doing me a favour by it, i don't benefit in any way from your subscription. I'm not on YouTube to get as many subs as possible, i couldn't care less. I have 105 or so at the moment, and i have no idea how or when i got them all. I haven't checked any of their channels out, and probably won't.
That seems to be a bit of a thing on the internet these days. 'I'll follow/sub you if you do the same to me'. Maybe it does benefit other people, but some of us ain't bovvid.
