Amazing that ended up with no penalty.
That’s normally a rule they are strict about. Pardon the pun but “that’s a line that shouldn’t be crossed”
Yes it was the teams mistake, but the driver should also know not to abort that late. While no incident resulted is no really the point, those rules are there to stop dangerous incidents and shouldn’t be turned into “but it’s ok if done safely”.
His change wasn’t for any safety reason, it wasn’t like a crash happened in the pit lane and he was avoiding an incident. It was a change of strategy. In effect he gained an advantage by breaking the rule, that alone should be a reason for a penalty.
Hard call because it could be seen as affecting the result and the season. But a steward needs to ignore that and consider the infraction in terms of rules, safety and fairness. Once you let this go with just a reprimand you open up a lot of leeway and next time someone does something they can say “but Hamilton got no punishment”

Only felt Kimi could win a race twice in the last 5 seasons; after getting pole in Monaco last years and today after the first round of stops pre-mature pit stops cost him both (he stopped twice during the safety car, or did I imagine that?)

I would have gave him +5 seconds, which still would have been a Mercedes 1-2 (Hamilton would have pushed harder and may have still won)

Haas got screwed by the rain timing and safety car as well. May have had a 5-6 finish.

    It was under safety car.
The moment they will change the rule that made possible to Vettel to cheat under VSC, speed in pitlane and win (this season, cannot remember the race) then they can really penalise for this.

Forgot the exact details of that race, but I'm not sure Vettel exceeded pit speed limit... it was a circumstance that allowed Vettel to gain advantage without actually violating any rules, right?

In this case, Hamilton clearly committed an infraction.

Perhaps FIA showed mercy because of that other screw up?

Anyway, according to Lewis, God was with him and answered his prayer. Who can be against God?

It really sucks for the fans to see Hamilton lose the British GP and Vettel lose this one... God of fortune is just not very happy with the fans I guess...

When he binned it they showed a majority of fans cheering enthusiastically... maybe he is not so well liked in homeland, no idea.

Yeah, I noticed that... fans in that part of the track apparently are not Vettel fans?!?!? But Hamilton noticed most of the fans booing him all the time... so not sure exactly who were the fans rooting for...

Yeah I saw the footage during the race and most were wearing RB and/or orange.
