Good. It was tiresome to hear all the permutations of woulda, coulda, shoulda on Sky's broadcast. I'll enjoy the silence.
As for Alonso, he didn't have much to add to the show. In fact, I'm surprised he stayed so long after Singapore '08.

Reading the McLaren facebook page, a lot of his fans are hoping he goes to the Indycar series and wins there as he's so good.
I think a certain S Dixon might have something to say about that.

It's interesting that a capable racer still relatively in his prime had to retire because he just can't find a good enough seat to continue.
Yeah, we need more F-1 teams for sure..., but besides that, I find the lack of competency by McLaren, Williams, Honda and Renault amazing.
Or I wonder perhaps Mercedes and now Ferrari are just very good at cheating?
I'll actually miss him, but it's good that old geezers leave so that we can make more room for future champions.
Regarding Indycars... if you look at Mansell and Montoya's past performances, I'm pretty sure ex-F-1 Champs can easily win Indycar championships. Alonso's Indy500 performance was already pretty impressive and probably could've won it if his Honda didn't let go.

Let me repeat. McLaren is so screwed up they'll need to field a paydriver. At least Carlos comes with some money to compensate his average-ness.
In that particular case, red bull wins if they get to keep James Key in their technical team.

"Brendon Hartley, first NZ driver to join McLaren since Denny Hulme!"
Has a nice ring to it.

That would be beyond epic, but sadly a pipe dream i'd say.
Are McLaren more reliable than Brendons current team?

So what happens at McLaren? Talk is of Sainz to McLaren as Renault are now full, Sainz's option with Red Bull apparently expires next month. But if that's the case, what of Lando Norris? he could be going to Toro Rosso according to paddock gossip after they tried to get him to replace Hartley mid-season. If, as expected Gasly is promoted to Red bull the line ups will likely be:
Mercedes: Hamilton & Bottas
Ferrari: Vettel and Raikkonnen
Red Bull: Verstappen & Gasly
Renault: Hulkenberg and Ricciardo
Force India: Stroll and Perez
Haas: Magnussen and Leclerc
Sauber: Ericsson and Giovanazzi
Toro Rosso: Unknown & Norris (Perhaps Hartley might get another season)
Williams: Ocon and Sirotkin
McLaren: Sainz & Vandoorne

Lando and Sainz in Macca?
Vandoorne for RoGro? I think he is more likely to find an Indy seat than Alonso.
