#RIP Dan Gurney 4/13/1931 - 1/14/2018.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File...ney_(1970).jpg … I just heard that my hero passed away today...Daniel Sexton Gurney. This is so sad and my thoughts, prayers and love to the Gurney family. Dan was one of the Titans of the sport. Godspeed Dan...I’m sure you’ll be pushing the envelope in heaven.

I'm so happy that a) I got to see the AAR Eagle that won Spa in person and b) that my wife got me a picture of it signed by Gurney. I didn't realize at the time how few chances were left for that.

Relaxing and enjoying life
Very sad day. Dan Gurney was not only a legendary race car driver, but also very instrumental in developing the MR2

To be honest I didn’t know that much about him. Knew of the flap! But didn’t know about the spraying champagne or his record across multiple series.
I did know he raced for Brabham. Wow that must have been an amazing combo of two giants, both drivers and mechanical talents.
It really throws back to a different era when you could be a “polymath” (quotes for using it in a racing sense, rather than just an intellectual), today you have to be such a specialist.

Driver
A big loss in the racing world. I still contend the '67 Gurney Eagle is one of the prettiest race cars ever built.
MR2, do you know any stories about that or links to them? I was aware that he had a hand in developing the MK2 suspension, in a test driving capacity, but I've never seen details.

Thank you to the incredible @AndyBlackmore, who created this sticker for me on such short notice. I'll have these in hand by the Rolex 24 for @IMSA teams and drivers who want them for their cars and helmets.

RIP Hero. Don't have many heroes in racing, sometimes the ones I met as a teen like Justin or other talents like Clark, Prost, Stewart. Was late to the scene with Dan Gurney being from UK, but caught what he had achieved before that. A Hero & Legend who changed motorsport.....

RIP Dan Gurney. I was first inspired by him when I was in midgets dreaming of being like him. I was last inspired by him yesterday. Yes, I mean forever. He understood me better than anyone else, which is why he wrote the foreword for my book in 2001 #DanGurneyHasFinishedTheRace

M'friend Dan Gurney died today too young. He was so gracious & kind to mutual friend, Russ Schleeh- took him to lunch every Sat., kept him alive 10 yrs longer. Whenever we were in LA, V & I were welcome & sure enjoyed it. Dan was such a kind, generous, interesting, talented guy.

Sad news about Dan Gurney. I met him in 02 when he returned to Francorchamps to drive the Eagle to celebrate his victory in the 1967 Belgian GP. I took a few pictures and he made a ltd edition print of one of them. Week later I received a signed print and a lovely message. LEGEND
