Our vege garden has been about three years in the making.

Year one, we thought about making it, and where it would go/what shape etc.
Year two, we dug it up and removed all the weeds/grass etc (was lawn beforehand).
Year three, we re-weeded it, dug over part of it, properly dug and weeded the other half and then planted some stuff in it (some of which we had growing already in little pots):

Carrots, bell peppers (four of them; red, green, orange and purple), lettuce, spring onion, peas, cabbage and weeds.
Out of that, we harvested and used: Spring onions.

Cabbage got eaten by snails/slugs, pepper's didn't grow or didn't grow very big, carrots: only one grew and it was still small last time i looked, lettuce went to seed and started growing upwards, and the pea plant grew but never produced any.
We were very successful growing weeds though, so at least we succeeded somewhere.

In all honesty, we planted too late in the year and didn't really maintain it very well. And the reason it took three years to half-arsedly make the garden, was due entirely to procrastination.

And in three years i can't find a single photo of it, other than this one i took in March this year. It's in the fenced off area (our cat likes gardening too...). Thinking of making a second, smaller, garden exclusively for potatoes too, as the last house we were in they eventually took over the whole garden and we couldn't get rid of them.

Big pilea cr@p to the far right below the retaining wall is gone now, was god knows how many years of composting by previous owners. Some of the stuff in there was almost blue/purpleish in colour and it was basically turning into dirt due to being there so long.
Everything else in the background is work in progress too, will eventually be tidier.
