Well, if you're going to post about Florence, I can damn well post about our super-typhoon.
On Sunday, I'm scheduled to fly back from a 40th birthday in Taiwan.

Best of luck to you and yours.
I assume the birthday party is for someone else, but if you're lucky enough to be that young, Happy Birthday as well.
May I suggest a nice parasol with which to brave the storm?

Your spinny-weather-disaster typhoon Mangkhut has a much cooler name than hurricane Florence.
And we call them cyclones. On the scale of sick names for things, that would be right at the bottom. The most infamous one to hit our shores was cyclone Tracy. Blergh!
But aside from that, good luck. We hope you all come out of this one without a scratch.

Should be ok. I'm most concerned about whether I can get back in time to see the family and get to work on Monday, or whether I'll have to stay in Taipei another day and ask travel insurance to pay out.
It's a friend's 40th btw.
